It was exactly 19 years ago, 20 July 2004 when I first went on self Drive Trip to Leh via Manali. And it was in a new AWD Subaru Forester (sold in India under the Chevrolet badge). I was with my best friend and it was indeed a memorable Trip.

We went to Leh and with some Off Roading managed to get to Chilling in the Zanskar Gorge. We went to Nubra Valley and I distinctly remember we were the only self driving "Tourists" there and that too in a flashy Red Car. :)

We really enjoyed the time we spent in Nubra. Wanted to go to the Lakes but we ran out of time doing stuff here and there.
