Finding a small, peaceful spot in Hervey Bay

I'm on an everlasting quest to find decent photo spots around Hervey Bay, QLD, Australia.

We've been to the botanical gardens, the boat harbour, and around various locations upon the Esplanade. Today I managed to find a spot on the Esplanade we hadn't been to yet — a small peaceful blip in an otherwise busy tourist-filled nightmare.

I found it on Google Maps, in live view, just roaming around trying to discover interesting areas.

Unfortunately, due to having a lunch date with friends and perusing a couple of shops beforehand, we didn't get to spend much time here but I've already demanded that the next time we come to the Bay this is the area we shall go so I can finish my photographic investigations.

It's shaded with plenty of seating, a short walk to another 1.5km long jetty, it has an interesting rock-beach with both ibises and seagulls fluttering around, and it was so quiet.

The only people around were the few on the pier fishing and flying a drone. There were no tourists around, no screaming kids, no bogans — it was a wonderful, hidden area.

We were only able to spend about 10 minutes there before having to head off to the restaurant for lunch. Enough time for a couple of quick snaps but nowhere near the length of time I wanted to stay there for, for decent photos.

We went to the Bay Central Tavern for lunch and I had a Toblerone-inspired cocktail plus a fisherman's feast seafood platter. Delicious!

Before that we were perusing various stores for a new vacuum cleaner, then stopped by Bunnings for a Very Important Purchase... ... ...

A succulent for my Bulbasaur! 😁😁😁

All in all, a good day was had today. I'm looking forward to our next outing so I can investigate this place I found properly and give my camera a proper work out there.

Until next time! 😊📷

Well, what great photos you have! They look like very relaxing places, where you could spend a whole day doing nothing but being happy.

Beautiful shots, I love watching or listening to the ocean or sea lapping up against the coast, so soothing

Most of those sea-lapping-up-against-the-coast places around here are surrounded by tourists and children screaming. 😅 I'm glad I found this little peaceful pocket! Looking forward to going back so I can spend some proper time there.

You guys have some amazing beaches, but ya they can be pretty overrun with tourists unless you head out to the West coast where you can find lots of beautiful quite ones.
