π¨βπ³ Roti Wraps With Srey-Yuu π₯ & Another New Nickname Is Born π

Today I made roti wraps for the family, starting with tomato chutney, then shredding cabbage and carrots, making rotis, then finishing with peanut vadas.
Assembling The Kit π·

Β Β Β I felt like making something a little special today, and for a long time I have been craving a roti wrap, particularly a wrap known as the "falafel killer" that we used to sell in our restaurant back in Kampot several years ago. I started by making a huge batch of roti dough, then soaked peanuts and lentils for a few hours to get them soft and ready for blending into vada batter.

Β Β Β Although I didn't create all the accessories we'd normally include for the restaurant version, I did shred some carrots and cabbage and also made a tomato chutney. I had some peanut podi already made from yesterday, and all these things combined to create a little roti wrap spread on the table. Sorry this isn't a recipe post, I just haven't had time for anything like that lately, barely enough time to post anything at all.
A Satisfied Srey-Yuu π₯

Β Β Β Before the missus and Monkey-B joined us, Srey-Yuu and I dove into the roti spread and began making our wraps. I am fan of falafel and pita, but there is something so much better about rotis and peanut vadas replacing the falafel and pita, Indianized Arab food if I can call it that.

Β Β Β Assembly is simple, smash the vadas into place, cover with shredded veggies, then add some peanut podi and tomato chutney. When the wrap is completely overstuffed and it seems impossible to hold, that is the moment to line it up to your facehole and see if it's going to fit. I was able to get a successful bite after turning my head sideways.

Β Β Β While sharing this meal with Srey-Yuu, I was reminded of a nickname I had overheard someone on YouTube using to refer to Steven Seagal. He was an action movie star when I was a kid, but now his martial arts skills have been revealed to be almost zilch, he's overweight, and he's pissed off everyone he's ever worked with, so now he's relegated to B movies. Back to the point, the nickname is "Sensei Ham Hock," and it is just too good not to use, so I've given it to Srey-Yuu this week.

Your falafel killers look to die for, because they're killing me, just looking at them. You are a master. I just can't perfect a roti. Indianizing a falafel is a delicious idea. I don't get why Srey yu gets Sensai Hamhockπ I guess I'm missing something. π
Well, I am obviously a biased source of information on the subject. I love falafel, but I've always felt pita bread is too thick . Rotis take a bit of practice, and for me I like to blister them on tava then transfer them to an open flame for the poof.
The nickname makes no sense, but we are constantly drumming up new nicknames for each other, and for about half a year I've been calling her legs ham hocks because they are bigger than her mom's. When I heard Steven Seagal referred to as Sensei Ham Hock, I knew I had to recycle it.

Wow, this is nice, and got to know about falafel killer. Nice eating as a family.
Lentils and peanuts blended together make a really nice falafel killer. I do like chickpeas, but they aren't affordable in Cambodia, so we have to be creative.
Your creativity is superb. Well done
Oh, that is just awesome! Falafel killers? :) You can call it whatever you want, as long as you are sharing!
Looks so good! Indainizing it? I have never heard of that!
I tend to Indianize all my food. I even once got reprimanded by an Italian ex for spicing up the marinara sauce π.
Haha!! You are incorrigible! Lol
Yay! π€

The wrap looks super delicious. The roti you made looks like chapati. The amount of stuffing you made it looks like a super burrito instead of wrap. Now that I imagine you'll need to tilt your head a little so your facehole can line up with your throat before you can jam the damn thing down π€£
I am a big fan of Steve. I'm not saying how good he is, but no one else does that kind of chill cum action, the emotionless killing, the blank face execution, super cool. When I was on taekwondo day, I even tried the steve style swerve in my opponent, looking in the opposite direction and throwing a punch, omg I can't help it but to have the slo-mo graphic of me doing that in my color TV with a decent snow flakes generated by the dirty VHS magnetic tape reader.
But of course, that punch landed on the air and I threw myself out of the sparring ring and ended the fight in less than 5 seconds. One of the fastest KO title we hold records in school for a very long time until the taekwondo division disbanded.
I cant wrap my head around with the sensei ham hock in relate to Steve π€ therefore i cant repate how ham hock has to do with Srey-yuu with the burito π€π€π€
For some reason I am reminded of the shameless pranks I used to play on my
stepdaughters when we first met. I used to pop a small banana in my mouth and pretend to swallow it without biting or chewing. On the walk to throw away the peel I would quickly chew and eat it, and this cheap trick kept the kids mystified for almost 4 months. I told them everyone in the USA eats bananas like that π.Once upon a time they filmed part of Under Siege 2 in a town in Colorado I used to live, but that sequel was a flop compared to the first one. Good memories, and now his direct to DVD release films are nothing short of comedies, although that is not the intention.
I have tried to envision you throwing yourself out of the ring multiple times, brought me far too many belly laughs. Perhaps you are the reason taekwondo disbanded π. For more clues on the nickname story, refer to my reply under carolyn's comment.
I have tasted this dish once too ,this dish takes time and care, I still feel that I still remember the taste itβs . I hope to eat it again one day.have a great day.
Did I make vadas for you before? I can't remember, but perhaps you mean the rotis. Thanks for stopping by sister.
yes really.
