πŸ₯€ Public School Sugarcane Juice, 🀳 Selfies With Srey-Yuu & πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ A New Swimming Hole

Today we had an oversized sugarcane juice hanging in the back of tuk-tuk for Monkey-B to sip on after she got out of school.

The Perfect Dad-Daughter Selfie Does Exist 🀳

Β  Β  Β After Monkey-B drank her sugarcane juice and we drove the nearly 30km back up the mountain to home sweet home, Srey-Yuu surprisingly joined me for selfie, something she almost never does. The universe aligned along with our smiles and I now have a selfie with my teenage daughter that I will cherish for a long time. It's hard to talk Srey-Yuu into taking a photo with me, so when she does they are very special moments. I think we're adorable and we should take more photos together, but then I'm a dorky embarrassing dad.

Β  Β  Β Slightly upstream from us a very good swimming hole that I have now been to a couple of times. Even in the relative low water levels we've been experiencing the water here is chest deep in several places. This deep water actually makes it possible for some proper swimming, and the water is pretty clear here too. My friend Stephen has been staying with us a few weeks while trying to find a plot of land to buy in the area, and this is now a favorite place of ours to visit.

Β  Β  Β Khmer New Year is approaching and my daughters will be on a school break as well, but we have yet to make any solid travel plans. My visa expires on the 5th of May, so I've also got this looming deadline on my mind. If things go well we'll be able to travel to Battambang and Siem Reap and still have plenty of time for me to reach Phnom Penh and catch a flight to the USA to see my parents and other family members. That pretty much does it for today folks, catch you in the next post......

It's getting more difficult to take a photo with my daughters as well. Sometimes i have to bribe my way through to get a shot with them.

The best bribes are usually food-related, popcorn being an easy win πŸ˜‰.

Oh, it's miracle that she agreed to have selfie with her dad. You should keep this lovely photo @justinparke.

Those places are really cool, specially on hot Summer days! Sadly, I live next to the sea, near very urban areas so the rivers are pretty much tainted at this point... I need to get much closer to their headwaters to enjoy places like that! πŸ˜†

We feel very blessed in regards to swimming here. There are so many little nooks and crannies to find for swimming, and I think that will be a big part of the marketing when we are ready for the general public.

Enjoy sugarcane juice when you come home from school, it really refreshes your throat, especially if you enjoy it during the day when you come home from school.but at first glance I saw that the sugarcane juice was hanging from the net between the driver and the passengers tuk-tuk,, is that true..??It's true what you say,In this selfie picture, your smiles look so harmonious that even nature smiles because I've never seen a smile like this before.. hehe.. this will be a rare phenomenon.. haha Your silliness will be the main material for your daughter to tell their life story to other friends, it will not be an embarrassing story for them,But a story of pride that they will tell their other friends. I think so...

You noticed my homemade cargo net, yes the juice was hanging from it. It has become a convenient place to place shopping bags and other things while out running errands. I hope there will be more selfies with Srey-Yuu in the future, we are adorable together πŸ˜†.

That father–daughter selfie is priceless! I am so glad she cooperated for a change! 😊

I know someone on Hive that moved from the US to Costa Rica. When her Visa is about to expire, she crosses the broder into Mexico for a day, does some shopping for things she can't find in Costa Rica, stays one night in a hotel, then returns the next day. When she re-enters Costa Rica, her Visa is automatically renewed for a few months. She has done this many time, as have other expats there. Is that a possibility for you? A quick zip into Thailand and back, perhaps, once the Thai border near you opens again? Or is that option not available for renewing a Cambodian Visa?

Central and South America are totally different world in the way of visas. It is really hard and expensive to immigrate and get residency, but most countries allow you to renew 6-month tourist visas indefinitely. Here in SE Asia tourist visas have a limited life span, and you eventually need to get residency or leave. Luckily it's not as bureaucratic or expensive as South America, but there are realistic paths towards citizenship here.

Oh the new swimming spot looks amazing! I do miss the "black" creeks from Suriname every now and then.

At times the water gets a bit dark from tannins in the leaves, but nothing like the blackwater of Suriname, something I will never forget 😁.

Such a beautiful photo! Well worth treasuring. It's great that you've found that swimming hole close by. Swimming lessons can continue....
