π¨βπ©βπ§βπ§ Cambodian Family Road Trip πΊ Pursat & Battambang π£οΈ

July 23rd was the date scheduled for Cambodian national elections, and with the kids out of school for this occasion, my wife asked for a family road trip.
πΎ Pursat Here We Come π

Β Β Β This road trip was a multipurpose one, with the first order of business to reach Pursat where we would drop off my in-law construction crew and stay for one night. With them back in their voting district, they would be able to go to the polls and avoid any potential village fallout. The other plan was to visit Battambang, a town I haven't been to in at least 10 years.

Β Β Β There are a series of halfway decent roads to get us back home from Battambang, but it was going to be a first run, likely filled with wrong turns. We stayed the night at my brother-in-law's house, who owns a home and some land outside the provincial capital Pursat.

Β Β Β There are dogs, cattle, water buffaloes, cats, and all kinds of other animals in this agricultural area. Rice fields cover the horizon like the cornfields of Indiana where I am from, and a shadetree is a very rare commodity.
The Grain Shack π

Β Β Β In the corner of the yard is a small hut, the oldest building on the property. It was once a home, but now it serves as a rice storage shed because the local area is almost exclusively rice paddies. For long-term storage something high and dry is needed because the land is barely above the water table.
Teenager Coping π€·ββοΈ

Β Β Β Srey-Yuu bought her iPad on the trip to stay digitally connected to the world, a must for any modern teenager. There are two family members that usually don't want to go on road trips, and those people are Srey-Yuu and I. I would enjoy traveling more if I could find some help with my Hive work, but it consumes 12-14 hours of my day most of the time, and combining that with driving 7-8 hours a day turns me into a zombie.

Β Β Β It ultimately leads to me trying to do voting with my left hand while driving, nothing dangerous though. It is however exhausting to slow down and pull over to the shoulder of the road every 30 minutes to prevent the @asean.hive voting power from reaching 100%.
π₯ Garden Shots πΆοΈ
Β Β Β Within the yard of my brother-in-law's house is a small garden of mostly chili peppers. I did my best to take some close-up shots, but it was quite windy at the time. I couldn't get a good focus on the chilies with my phone, but the flowers were successful shots. Evening came soon enough, got a night of rest and headed out to Battambang the next morning. I guess stay tuned for a Part 2......

I was surprised at the look the cat gave, lol. Agriculture is good in every aspect Because it's life and the world would be nothing without it
The kitty is very sweet, and she really loves cuddling with Monkey-B. We had a good time, but we are not used to the hot weather in the rice fields because we live in the mountains now.
Ohh! But you should get used to it in due time, when you keep staying there
That's a cool pic of SreyYuu on the steps! The buffalo is good shot, too! π
It was a good experience, and now that I have been there several times, I am less of a spectacle and more of a visitor.

Take care, though I truly appreciate your dedication to keeping this community Happy! I hope that you would be able to find someone who would help you manage or delegate your work, so you'll be able to get more family time.
Love the buffalo shot! May you get enough rest especially when you're in zombie mode.

My oldest daughter has said she is willing to step up the plate and help me. I would rather she stay focused on school and other things, but she knows I am lacking sleep and how hard it would be for me to hire an assistant in such a remote location. The water buffalo is easy content, I never get close to one without taking pics π.
That's a great idea of letting her concentrate on school first, maybe when she's a bit older. I also feel bad for you that you are lacking sleep, I hope that you'll be able to get someone soon. That's the beauty of staying in a remote location.
Thank you so much for taking your time and replying to me, I appreciate it!

It's a challenge, but one I am happy to take on for the sake of being able to live where we do. Thanks my friend.
