Seaphotography Contest Week#206 | Muddy Waves

Hi Hive Lovers

I'm doing something different in today's #seaphotography contest. This is something you don't usually encounter in the #SeaphotographyCommunity managed by @marc-allaria.

Well, every time you hear the words "beach and sea," you definitely imagine a beach with white sand, waves and clear sea water, people swimming and a variety of other fun beach activities. It turns out, that's not always true.

Today I really found something contrary to everyone's imagination of the beauty of the beach and the sea.

I have been to Sentang Beach in the eastern part of Medan City, North Sumatra. A beach that is no longer crowded by tourists. Several years ago, this beach was one of the favorite beach attractions for local tourists in North Sumatra. In fact, this is a coastline with white sand that is simply stunning.

What I found today is truly sad. Several cypress trees have fallen due to coastal abrasion caused by the big waves of the west monsoon waters of the Malacca Strait, and traditional fishermen are starting to lose their catch of fish. Since 3 years ago, the sea water on this beach has become dirty because the waves are mixed with mud and silt. As far as 300–500 meters from the shoreline, the water has also been filled with silt. Almost no more visitors come to this beach.

The three children who were just playing with the sand, the small waves behind them looked very dirty because they were mixed with mud. It seemed that the three of them were not in the mood to bathe in the sea. Usually, children would never be able to stop themselves from bathing in the sea, right?

These three children were a little amused by their strange finds from the sand. They allowed me to take a photo of the find.

Also seen are fallen trees whose roots have emerged from the surface of the beach. The trunk of the tree has been taken for use by local residents. The next trees that are on the shoreline are also threatened by the swift abrasion that occurs there.

You can also still see one traditional fisherman in his small boat laying nets in the murky sea while still hoping to catch fish. He hopes that it never goes out.

A coast guard who has resigned himself to this situation said that there was never any effort to overcome the damage and save this beach.
It is deeply regretted.

Save our nature!

Very good photos, exquisite luminosity and a nice work with the angles of capture in the shore shots, generating very good fugue points and also made great use of the elements of the environment.
