Kwai Fong to Kowloon Station

Our second day in Hong Kong was gloomy, it rained in the morning which made us wake up pretty late. It was very late that we had brunch instead, actually, I had coffee and was already very eager to go out and explore but my little one was still snoring and we didn't want to disturb him as he looked really tired.

We had no specific strict itinerary for that day though as we skipped Disney Land. I know most tourists would really prefer going to Disney but we had no reason to go there, first, Matti has no idea who are the Disney characters, he knows Micky Mouse but is not fond of them, my husband and I are not fond of rides too, and World Frozen was still not available during our visit. So, that day was really just a free one for us to do whatever we wanted.

When Matti woke up, we prepared right away for breakfast. We had bread in our room so I just made him eat a bit and off we went to the mansion on the next street. In Hong Kong, residential buildings are called mansions, it sounds fancy because mansions in the Philippines are for the rich!

Anyway, we were going there because we needed to eat breakfast and there's Cafe de Coral was there. The food at Cafe de Coral was good and was cheaper, they have nice seating arrangements too and they have a self-service screen ordering system so it was easier for us, they accept credit cards too!

We rode the train towards Kwai Fong as we were planning to go to Noah's Ark. I hadn't booked a ticket yet and I thought we could do some joy ride first, just look around the city and only book when we reach there. It was the best decision because later on, we got lost and didn't reach Noah's Ark.

When we reached Kwai Fong, we strolled around this mall, the Muji store was so enticing from the glass windows! The subway is just on the opposite side and an overpass connects people from the subway to the mall.

We decided not to pursue Noah's Ark anymore because it was past noontime already, so we decided to walk around and take photos instead. Then we moved on back to Kowloon metro station.

Inside Kowloon station, we figured there was a nice garden with a great view of the buildings around so we decided to go up to the top floor. With a stroller, it was challenging to go around because if there were stairs, I had to look for a ramp, go around a couple of times before getting to where I wanted to go. Also, using the elevator sometimes takes a lot of waiting time.

There's a waterfall here but it isn't that obvious in the photo, my husband should have done a bit of long exposure for the water but anyway, this is okay. My little one was all focused on the phone the entire time. By the way, we bought a sim card for only 60$ and it was enough for our entire stay in Hong Kong. My friends said they bought one for 45$ per day. I guess what I bought was a good deal.

Here's the view of the metro station, Kowloon Station with a nice garden, love the stairs and the symmetry! Can you spot me in the photo below? There's actually a lot more to see here. I badly wanted to go up but there's no ramp equivalent for this staircase. Also, can you see the two wearing a Luigi and Mario costume? It was surprising how Hong Kong celebrates Halloween, even parents would wear twinning costumes together with their kids. When we were in Ocean Park, there were thousands of young men and women wearing Halloween costumes, I was able to get a video of that, and I'll share it soon!

We took a lot of photos here, but didn't really stay long, we strolled around and even reached the restaurant area and even went out to see the roadside. It's quite amazing to see these tall buildings like I could reach them by hand!

After this exploration, we decided to go to the Avenue of Stars as we finally decided to hop in the observation wheel because my little one had been asking us to go and ride it since day 1. Our plan was to explore Avenue of the Stars, ride a ferry to Central Pier, take the Ferris wheel, and then ride the ferry back to watch the Symphony of Lights. That's for the next blog!

I have visited many places in Asia, but I have not been to Hong Kong yet. I have to make up for it 💪
