Bugnaw Se-i Beach Resort and It's Honeymoon Villa Facing Camiguin Island!

The owners of East Coast White Sand and Anda Pearl Resorts had once again acquired new beach lands in Anda and opened Bunaw Si-e Beach Resort. This famous location is a favorite of local beach lovers because aside from being a nice beach, it is also a public one.

And so a private resort sits right in front of a public beach in Anda, Bohol.

The owners of these three resorts are politicians, Congresswoman Kristine Alexie Besas-Tutor and her husband Christopher Bernados Tutor, mayor of the neighboring town, Candijay.

By now, I guess you'd see how they love beach resorts! The East Coast White Sand Resort has been sold to Parklane, so it is no longer their property. Among the three resorts, my personal favorite would be East Coast.

Today, allow me to share with you Bugnaw Si-e Beach Resort, this was where we celebrated my mother's birthday last August.

The resort's name and the phrase "bugnaw se-i" is a Boholano slang which means "it's cold". But it is an exclamation of appreciation for the good cold feeling when dipping into any kind of body of water. Back in the days, when there was nothing but nature, the waters under the rock cliffs were indeed cold. Thus, everyone who'd swim here would exclaim "bugnaw se-i!" therefore, the beach was named as it is.

Today, of course, because of a lot of changes in both the sea levels and the structure of the shoreline, this phrase is now left as just the name of the beach, I am not sure if the same temperature can be felt when swimming under the shade of the rock cliff but one thing's for sure, this remains as a crowd favorite as it stays as a public beach when all the other beaches have been sold to private owners.

With a private resort rising in this spot, it is evident that more and more visitors are coming here. However, I am not sure if the guests appreciate the crowded and busy area in front of the resort's infinity pool though.

From the public beach, anyone can actually peek into the pool as it is not that high from the shoreline. There are also steps coming from the resort into the public beach as access for those guests who'd like to go swim at the public beach. So the public can for sure just walk a bit up the stairs and see the resort from there.

But I am glad that during our day visit, that didn't happen. No one dared come up from the shore to the resort.

Entrance fees for day use last August were priced at Php 300 for adults and Php 150 for children four to eight years old, this is cheaper compared to the other two resorts.

Parking spaces are available, they have a huge area at the back and they are also building a new convention center opposite the side of the resort. From the main entrance and lobby, guests will be directed towards the pool area and their restaurant is just behind the pool.

Unfortunately, the resort was not spared when Typhoon Odette came to pay a visit to Bohol. It left some areas of their newly installed synthetic slate roof tiles taken out. When we visited the resort, they had fixed it already but the original design might have run out of stock so they placed a different color instead. It might not be very obvious from the ground but it looked bad when viewed from the top, especially with a drone shot.

Having toddlers with us, we were glad that the pool has a shallow area, it was just right for our kids to run around and also play with their white plastic chaise pool lounge chairs. We were at the shallow part of the pool almost 90% of the time because of the kids.

The rest of the pool has a height of 6 feet and they allow only proper pool attire, there's a lifeguard who would not allow those who were wearing improper clothing. Showers are also available around the corners of the pool. They got lounge chairs with umbrellas too at the pool side and it is nice to stay lying there while watching over the kids. My father was even able to sleep while on watch. Teehee!

Their restaurant offers really good food. We dined here for our lunch and the prices are also reasonable. I have to commend their staff for being so accommodating, we felt like they give genuine smiles and the services were perfect! I also love their glass doors which can be opened up widely so guests eating inside can see the pool view.

They allow food from outside the resort except for lechon, they will charge a corkage fee of Php 500 for a whole lechon. They have live bands too happening every Saturday. Their social media account is very active in posting the events happening in the resort!

Bugnaw Se-i Beach Resort has 35 rooms. There are 30 standard rooms good for two persons, four family rooms good for four persons, and one Honeymoon Villa. I am quite intrigued with their honeymoon villa though and I was looking out where to find that. Later on, after exploring the resort, we finally found the honeymoon villa in the intimate secluded area of the resort! I highly recommend this for those who want a private and intimate experience. I will show you more about that later on this blog!

Some of their standard rooms were still under construction during our visit so we were able to see the structures of the inside of these rooms. They look neat and spacious and they have televisions in every room plus they got balconies too which is nice.

A beautiful and healthy lush Bermuda grass can be seen from the balcony and it is a good spot too for those who have kids. I am not sure if they'll install a playground here but in their sister resort, Anda Pearl, they have a playground for those who have kids. It would be nice to have one here too!

There's also a platform just right in the middle of the buildings with chairs and lounges with umbrellas which is a good spot for picture taking. We took advantage of it being available when we were on our way out of the resort.

It was my mother's birthday so we took portrait shots of the family during our visit. I used a Sony A7iii with an 85mm lens here.

Now let's dive to the other beach of Bugnaw Se-i Beach Resort where we found their honeymoon villa.

We were not told about the resort having two beach shores. We were aware that before, back when we were still kids, we have been to the Basdaco beach beside bugnaw se-i. Now that the resort was built, they were able to also include the Basdaco beach as part of the property. It serves as a beach for the villa!

It takes a few minutes of walking from the main resort to reach the honeymoon villa. The path going here was still rough but I believe it will not take long before they'll get them cemented or worked on. It would be nice to just leave the grassy part as it is.

There's a makeshift staircase going down to the beach and this is a much better shoreline compared to the crowded public beach. During high tide, the only way to access this from the public beach was on a boat but if it's a low tide, anyone can get there by foot.

The villa looks really nice with its wood walls and amakan roofing. It has a private pool too! What's great about this is that it is sitting on a rock cliff overlooking the beach! It would surely be a great experience waking up and seeing the horizon right away from the room.

The beach is really serene and the waters were truly inviting! We swam here in the morning and returned by the afternoon when we were about to go so to take photos. It was even more beautiful in the afternoon and definitely, I could imagine the sunrise view here is also perfect for sure!

DSC03479.jpg

I forgot to take photos of our cottage. As day users, we were given free cottages too. Ours was located right behind a shower and comfort room building which was convenient! I like how they built them! There were at least five cottages for those who are staying for a day. I believe they were adding more soon!

A7308126.jpg

What's also lovely about this spot was the view of Camiguin Island. They also have electrical outlets in each cottage, very convenient to get our electronics charged and a lot of plastic chairs. We were also allowed to tie a rope for a hammock because we have babies with us who took their afternoon naps. We truly appreciate the staff and workers for lending us a rope as we forgot to bring one.

DSC03513.jpg

I assume that once all their amenities are finished, they'll increase their day-use fees and will surely charge for corkage too. So those who want to avail of their discounted rates should visit the resort very soon!

I guess the resort's advantage is their honeymoon villa. It's just something that I want to try booking too in the future!
