Happy to participate in February Bi Weekly GardenJournal Hub. It has been great sharing my Gardening post here with those have passion for Garden here.

Today I woked up in the morning as we have almost entered the weekend feel. Friday is another boring chilling day of course being the last day as we close the week. There are a lot of activities ongoing here and there. I must go to work, but first need to visit my gardening to see if I can do some small activities like how to protect my just planted crops, fencing and maintaining them as no pest would not vandalize them.

I first went to check my coconut plant which I have supported with some small wooden fenced. The fence was made with wood so everyday I need to check if the structure is in good state or has not broken down by free range farm animals like goats and sheep. This fenced coconut tree is very closed to some houses around. The coconut tree is just about 3 months old. So, I keep keen eye for some cultural practices like watering on daily basis especially during this time of dry weather. The Morning and Evening irrigation is very pertinent for every Gardener since it ensures cooling of the solid for optimum temperature for is good for plants growth and healthy.

Checking on my coconut tree wooden fenced and watering before work

The nutritionist and health therapist would advice how relevance coconut provides, from the root to the shoot of the plant have been naturally stocked with some medicinal values good for our healthy living. That's why I chose to plant this coconut tree. The liquid found in the coconut shell is good for cardio vascular health reducing high blood pressure. The mesocarp from the fibre of coconut is bored raw with no additives and not preservatives which is taken raw for some healthy and good living boosting the cells functioning.

I visited the Avocado 🥑 which is also one of my best fruit trees I dearly love to eat the fruit. I have fenced with some net, unlike the coconut that I fenced with some wooden structure. Because of this, I keep my close eyes on it so that no destruction is cost to it. The seed was nursed about a month before the its sprouting. I provided it with some organic manure to ensure fast growth of the plant. It is very fragile to the extent that any disturbance by animals can cause the death of the plant. The mesocarp is eaten when ripped and it's noted to have high content of booster of immune system and also contain high fibre to relieve us from constipation.

I recommend to every Gardener to get at least one plant of Avocado fruit tree in his house or garden or your backyard since Avocado has high value of nutrition. They are very expensive over here since it has not gain attention for the farmers to grow them in larger quantities. Few farmers grow them for commercial basis. Like if you have some sizable plot at your house you can plant 2 or 3 trees for consumption of your family. Since we do not grow them plenty, we see Avocado fruit tree to be seasonal crop; that's fruit maturation taking place once a year. But this depends on time of planting and the area when the Avocado is planted. We are still in drying season over here in the tropics, yet there are still Avocado fruits in the market. The bumper harvest for marketing where we see Avocado in bulk harvest is May and June when Mangoes are in abundance in markets.

My flowers are brightly coloured with such sparkling mood like diamond that blinks upon the reflection of light. When the morning due falls and the morning sunrise shine on them, they begin to blow the aromatic perfume through my house. Yes, I love flowers in my life since they bring that kind of beauty and good smelling feel brightening my good emotion all day. By this time, I planted "Cyrtanthus elatus" flowers which have that beautiful view. They come with different colours but I chose to grow the wine red colours to beautify my environment. They have that sweet perfumed smelling that everyone love. I needed to prune and remove all the weeds around to ensure good growth and maintenance. It is good source for honey making as some bees love to suck the nectar cause more pollination and multiply.

Growing of Cyrtanthus elatus

It is again a new year and planting season so I have to prepare a new area for farming. The area has been cleared and burned, all stumps been removed and ready to be ploughed and harrowed to make the soil lose. Since the area is very small I can do this manually using a mattock and a hoe. I need not to hire a tractor with the mouldboard plough before I can do this. There are even most labourers around who want daily jobs like this in the exchange for money. I want to grow some vegetables like tomatoes, garden eggs and okro. I will decide the farm into different sections and with each section grow each of these crops. We are in the month of February and we still need more rain while preparing our site for planting. What I have decided to do now is spray the emergence weeds on the prepared land and nurse my seeds which cannot be grown at stake.

My new land that I have prepared for farming

It was time for me to go to work when I checked my clock ⌚ and I would be in my Garden in the evening to continue other cultural practices. We are still in the Month of February Biweekly #Gardenjournal. Do expect my next post. Thanks for your attention!
