[ENG-SPN] The thousand and one nights of Lavapiés / Las mil y una noches de Lavapiés

On Sundays in Madrid, they usually recover, above all, after those miserable experiences of terror and confinement caused by that hecatomb worthy of George A. Romero's apocalyptic stories -remember, for example, a great black and white classic, 'La night of the living dead'- that return to the old customs, where for one day, the popular neighborhood of Lavapies becomes, metaphorically and comparatively speaking, the superb palace of the sultan, where the daring -not for that reason, less intelligent - Scheherazade, still continues to give us a master class in fantasy, imagination and creativity.

The vision of an infinite number of objects of all kinds, nature and condition, both new and used -especially the latter- produces, above all, in the overflowing mind of the romantic, a whole universe of thoughts and sensations, which can be, as certain events, which occurred in real life, the starting point for the creation of stories, where the mystery and the supernatural recover the strength of yesteryear, with the vision of those period objects, which, in many cases and through the ages , have been fatally impregnated by the turbulent life of their previous owners, a theme that, as we all know, has been widely used by Literature and Cinema, creating a true tidal wave of terror.

Los domingos en Madrid, suelen recuperar, sobre todo, después de esas miserables experiencias de terror y reclusión provocadas por esa hecatombe digna de las historias apocalípticas de George A. Romero -recordemos, por ejemplo, un gran clásico en blanco y negro, ‘La noche de los muertos vivientes’- ese retorno a las viejas costumbres, donde por un día, el popular barrio de Lavapies se convierte, metafórica y comparativamente hablando, en el soberbio palacio del sultán, donde la atrevida -que no por ello, menos inteligente- Scherezade, todavía continúa dándonos una lección magistral de fantasía, imaginación y creatividad.

La visión de un número infinito de objetos de toda clase, índole y condición, tanto nuevos como usados -especialmente estos últimos- produce, sobre todo, en la mente desbordada del romántico, todo un universo de pensamientos y sensaciones, que pueden ser, como ciertos hechos, acaecidos en la vida real, el punto de partida para la creación de historias, donde el misterio y lo sobrenatural recuperan la fuerza de antaño, con la visión de esos objetos de época, que, en muchos casos y a través de los tiempos, se han visto fatalmente impregnados por la turbulenta vida de sus anteriores propietarios, tema, que, como todos sabemos, ha sido ampliamente utilizado por la Literatura y el Cine, creando un auténtico maremágnum de terror.
