[ENG-SPN] The Talking Cathedral: Unamuno and the Starry Secret of Leon / La Catedral que Habla: Unamuno y el Secreto Estelar de León

Although not particularly devoted to that Miguel de Unamuno, who, in his novels, rarely favored lengthy descriptive passages and always extended dialogues, I do recognize in him, nevertheless, the charismatic vision of travelogues, where the writer's perspective is relegated to silence, in favor of the voice of the spirit, which speaks like a gossipy old woman, inspired by the beauty of all that it contemplates and that inwardly moves it.

For Unamuno, or rather, for Unamuno's inner child—that spirit capable of recapturing the first glimpse that, in one way or another, always returns at some point in our lives—the León Cathedral was like an open book, where the faith of the medieval builders was consolidated in chapters that stretched from the subterranean foundations to the most elaborate pinnacles crowning architectural structures that sought to represent heaven on earth, following, with absolute precision, the paradigms of that occult master known to history as Hermes Trismegistus.

Therefore, Leon Cathedral is another of those mysterious medieval cathedrals that, like beacons, guided travelers and pilgrims for centuries along the path of a very special constellation, Virgo. As such, it was always represented by the essential figure of Saint Mary: the same Mary who, under the enigmatic title of Our Lady, represented for the Knights Templar the beginning and the end of their religion.

Aun no siendo particularmente devoto de aquel Miguel de Unamuno, poco partidario, en sus novelas, de los grandes textos descriptivos y siempre a favor de los extensos diálogos, sí reconozco en él, no obstante, la visión carismática de unas crónicas de viaje, donde la perspectiva del escritor queda relegada al silencio, en favor de la voz del espíritu, animándose a hablar como una comadre, animado por la belleza de todo aquello cuanto contempla e internamente le motiva.

Para Unamuno, o mejor dicho, para el espíritu niño de Unamuno, ese que es capaz de recuperar la primera mirada, que, de una u otra manera, siempre vuelve en algún momento de nuestra vida, la catedral de León era como un libro abierto, donde la fe de los constructores medievales consolidaba, en capítulos que se extendían, desde los subterráneos cimientos, hasta los más elaborados pináculos que coronaban unas arquitecturas tendentes a representar el cielo en la tierra, siguiendo, con absoluta precisión, los paradigmas de aquel maestro ocultista que la historia conoció como Hermes Trismegisto.

Es, por lo tanto, la de León, otra de esas misteriosas catedrales medievales, que, como faros estelares, fueron señalando, durante siglos, a viajeros y peregrinos, el rumbo de una constelación muy especial, la de Virgo y como tal, estaba siempre representada por la figura esencial de Santa María: aquella misma, que, bajo la enigmática advocación de Nuestra Señora, representaba, para los caballeros templarios, el comienzo y el fin de su Religión.
