If there's anything truly intense about the Community of Madrid, it's those wonderful towns that surround it like satellites and whose beauty, picturesqueness, appeal, and allure illuminate it, as a whole, like a metaphorical and magnificent supernova.
Chronicles assert, although few dare to examine them today, that here, in Navalcarnero, King Planeta felt such a seduction—that is, the same Philip IV whose equestrian statue, located in front of the Royal Palace of Madrid, seems to want to take flight to the moon. Once he had succeeded, thanks to the intercession of Galileo Galilei, allowing the horse's hindquarters to stoically support the entire weight of the sculpture, he decided to celebrate his betrothal to Princess Mariana of Austria here.
It was also troops from Navalcarnero who, surely setting out in proud parade from the center of this emblematic Plaza Mayor, came to defend Segovia during the Comuneros' revolt. Despite the Health Ministry's requirements, they still maintain the popular festival of the slaughter, usually held in February, with the arrival of the storks to the church bell tower. Their famous underground inns also survive, as an invitation to cultural gastronomy. Like "The Prince’s Caves," they are converted into restaurants where you can savor the fine food of a land that is also famous for its bonanza wines.

Aseveran las crónicas, aunque pocos se atrevan hoy en día a escudriñarlas, que aquí, en Navalcarnero, fue tal la seducción que sintió el rey Planeta, es decir, ese mismo Felipe IV cuya estatua ecuestre, situada frente al Palacio Real de Madrid semeja querer emprender el vuelo hacia la luna, una vez conseguido, gracias a la intercesión de Galileo Galilei que los cuartos traseros del caballo aguantaran con estoicismo todo el peso de la escultura, que decidió celebrar aquí sus esponsales con la princesa Mariana de Austria.
Fueron también tropas de Navalcarnero las que, partiendo seguramente en orgulloso desfile desde el centro de esta emblemática Plaza Mayor, acudieron a defender Segovia durante la revuelta de los Comuneros y todavía mantienen vigente, a pesar de los requerimientos de Sanidad, la popular fiesta de la matanza, que suelen celebrar por febrero, con la llegada de las cigüeñas al campanario de la iglesia, sobreviviendo también, como una invitación a la gastronomía cultural, sus famosos mesones subterráneos, que, como ‘Las Cuevas del Príncipe’, están habilitados como restaurantes donde saborear las buenas viandas de una tierra, que, además, es célebre también por la bonanza de sus vinos.
