[ENG-SPN] Preparing the Summer Solstice Bonfires / Preparando las hogueras del solsticio de verano

Given that we're approaching that very special holiday, the summer solstice, it's a good opportunity to visit a mysterious place in the Numantian highlands, where locals have preserved their unique tradition of dancing to the sound of bonfires for centuries: San Pedro Manrique.

Without tricks, without pretense, but with "two balls," as many writers would say, proudly adopting the most authentic Castilian Spanish, the people of San Pedro Manrique walk barefoot through the embers of the bonfires on the magical night of San Juan, like someone strolling along the welcoming sands of a Mediterranean beach with an umbrella in tow.

We are, in this passage through the fire of Saint Pedro Manrique, facing something truly portentous, which, even at this point in the 21st century and with what is happening, as well as what is yet to happen, in this Digital Age, does not return, due to its fidelity, to those ancient traditions, which, dating back at least to the time when Scipio laid siege to Numantia, continue to preserve a cultural richness that, at the very least, invites us to discover who we are, where we come from, and above all, the courageous spirit that inspires us.

Es una buena ocasión, dado que nos vamos acercando a esa festividad tan especial, como es el solsticio de verano, para acercarnos hasta un misterioso lugar de las tierras altas numantinas, donde los vecinos llevan siglos conservando su inigualable tradición de danzar al son de las hogueras: San Pedro Manrique.

Sin trampa, sin cartón, pero sí con ‘dos cojones’, como dirían muchos escritores sin medias tintas, adoptando con orgullo el castellano más castizo, los sampedreños pasan descalzos por las brasas de las hogueras, en la mágica noche de San Juan, como quien pasea por las acogedoras arenas de una playa del Mediterráneo con la sombrilla a cuestas.

Estamos, en este paso del fuego de San Pedro Manrique, frente a algo realmente portentoso, que, incluso a estas alturas del siglo XXI y con lo que está cayendo, además de lo que queda por caer, con esta Era Digital, no devuelve, por su fidelidad, a esas tradiciones milenarias, las cuales, remontándose, como poco, a aquellos tiempos en los que Escipión ponía cerco a Numancia, continúa conservando una riqueza cultural, que, cuando menos, nos invita a descubrir quiénes somos, de dónde venimos y sobre todo, cuál es el valeroso espíritu que nos alienta.
