[ENG-SPN] Forgotten Heritage of Old Castile / Patrimonio olvidado de la Vieja Castilla

There, in that windswept area of Palencia, so feared by pilgrims and still reminiscent of its remarkable past, where the Visigoth presence held sway in those same places where the Roman patrician once laid the foundations of flourishing towns, a little-known historical, artistic, and cultural heritage barely survives, silently clamors for its right to be remembered.

The main entrance of the sovereign church of a village now lost, but over whose ignored foundations time became a metaphorical farmer, raising layers of dust that have now become a matrix of sweat and seed, has now become the protective threshold of the small cemetery of those deceased, who, possibly, also took to their graves the secret of times that History, always ungrateful, will never record in its pages: Vega de Bur.

Allí, en esa zona de Palencia batida por los vientos que teme tanto el peregrino y que todavía recuerda su notable pasado, donde la presencia del visigodo se hizo fuerte en esos mismos lugares donde antes el patricio romano levantó los cimientos de florecientes villas, sobrevive, a duras penas, un patrimonio histórico, artístico y cultural, poco o nada conocido, que clama, en silencio, por su derecho a ser recordado.

Portada principal de la soberana iglesia de un pueblo hoy desaparecido, pero sobre cuyos ignorados cimientos el tiempo se convirtió en metafórico agricultor, levantando capas de polvo que hoy se han convertido en matriz de sudor y simiente, se ha convertido, en la actualidad, en umbral protector del pequeño cementerio de esos finados, que, posiblemente, se llevaron también a la sepultura el secreto de unos tiempos que la Historia, ingrata siempre, jamás consignará en sus páginas: Vega de Bur.
