[ENG-SPN] Death, a morbid fascination / La Muerte, una morbosa fascinación

It is curious, but when we talk about Death, generally we all shudder and at the same time, feel a paradoxical, if not morbid, sensation of attraction for everything it represents. Metaphorically speaking, we could see in her the only maiden capable of bending us and shattering that fragile house of cards, which, deep down, we can come to assume are our values and conditioning. In front of her, her pride is worthless; bravery becomes the helpless cry of a child and that fragile crystal, called vanity, fractures into a thousand pieces. We are dust and as such, the favorite mortar with which it, Death, always shapes the intricate halls of the Unknowable.

And yet, whether by intuition or a vain desire of overbearing desire for survival, all cultures, since the dawn of time, have agreed that Death is not the end, but the beginning of a new path. Perhaps for this reason, there are many traditions in which we are compared to pilgrims. Pilgrims, destined to find themselves in any of those infinite stages that lead to a predetermined destination that leads to a very special destination: the Sanctuary of Eternity.

Wow
This is the first time I’d be hearing about the sanctuary of eternity
Anyway, death is inevitable

It is just a literary license, comparable, after all, to what many religions describe as Heaven, Paradise, Elysian Fields, Nirvana, etc. That deific and supranatural place where souls are supposed to go after they die. Of course, Death equalizes and universalizes us all.

This is fascinating to learn about the sanctuary for the first time I must confess

As I said in another comment, the idea of sanctuary is a literary license, which, in reality, is equated to the idea of Paradise maintained by many religions.

No matter the culture or race, no-one can actually escape the death race

Totally agree. Death, after all, is the best judge and makes no distinctions of race, sex or beliefs. He gives us all the same treatment.

It's good to be now and again reminded of the ultimate end that awaits every human being. At least it will help motivate us to live our lives well. Thanks for sharing.

For this reason, I have long followed an ancient Roman maxim that says: Carpe Diem. Live the moment as if it were your last.
