[ENG-SPN] Approaching the winter solstice / Acercándonos al solsticio de invierno

We are going through the autumn equinox and on the horizon, we are already beginning to glimpse that pale sunlight, which, like a lamp hanging from the incomparable setting of the firmament, warns us of the approach of a new solstice, the winter solstice, which always arrives accompanied with the illusion of those endearing festivities, which, based on the Nativity of the Lord, mark the end of a cycle and the beginning of a new one.

It is not surprising, therefore, that once the hangover from that other important festival, which some venerate, calling Halloween what was formerly the Celtic rite of Samhain and others, we remain faithful to the Christian festival of the Dead and All Saints, the big cities, like Madrid, in this case, carry the traditional decorations well in advance to say goodbye to one year and start another, with that illusion, which, although brief, gives us back part of the optimism that we are losing day by day.

It doesn't matter much either, getting lost in risky conjectures about the future, because, objectively speaking, it hasn't depended on us for a long time, but it is a good time to live in the present and see, in that mysterious light that filters through the artificial branches of the gigantic Christmas tree, a sign of hope, especially when thinking that, regardless of our personal problems, life always has something really beautiful to offer.

Estamos atravesando el equinoccio de otoño y en el horizonte ya se comienza a vislumbrar esa pálida luz solar, que, como un candil colgado del marco incomparable del firmamento, nos avisa de la proximidad de un nuevo solsticio, el de invierno, que llega siempre acompañado con la ilusión de esas entrañables festividades, que, basándose en la Natividad del Señor, señalan el fin de un ciclo y el comienzo de otro nuevo.

No es de extrañar, por tanto, que una vez superada la resaca de esa otra importante festividad, que unos veneran, llamando Halloween a lo que antiguamente era el rito celta del Samhain y otros, nos mantenemos fieles a la cristiana festividad de Difuntos y de Todos los Santos, las grandes ciudades, como Madrid, en este caso, lleven bien adelantados los adornos tradicionales para despedir un año y comenzar otro, con esa ilusión, que, aunque breve, nos devuelve parte del optimismo que vamos perdiendo día a día.

Tampoco importa mucho, perderse en aventuradas conjeturas sobre el futuro, porque, objetivamente hablando, éste hace tiempo que no depende de nosotros, pero sí es un buen momento para vivir el presente y ver, en esa misteriosa luz que se cuela entre las ramas artificiales del gigantesco abeto de Navidad, una señal de esperanza, sobre todo, a la hora de pensar, que, independientemente de nuestros problemas personales, la vida siempre tiene algo realmente hermoso que ofrecer.
