[ENG-SPN] A mysterious place called Augas Santas / Un misterioso lugar llamado Augas Santas

The forested surroundings of Allariz, or another of those imposing Galician Fragas, as the writer Wenceslao Fernández Flórez would say, hide, apart from those pilgrim branches that point toward that magnetic north that is Compostela, places where monks, incredible as it may seem, still use alchemical methods to create their exceptional liqueurs, as is the case with the Cistercian monastery of Oseira.

And also, most importantly, small rural communities, which, apart from pleasantly surprising with their spectacular picturesqueness, guard a grandiose historical and artistic heritage, which also includes curious traditions and ancestral mysteries. This is the case with that enigmatic settlement, which, bearing the significant name of Augas Santas or Holy Waters, provides an emotional surprise to the senses, providing a unique experience of genuine timelessness, creating the illusion that one is, without a doubt, in a privileged setting that has barely changed since the time when the Celtic priests, the famous Druids, gathered mistletoe from the sturdy oak trees with their small golden sickles, and then danced to the sound of bonfires.

It is no coincidence, therefore, that even those fine trackers of Tradition and faithful bloodhounds guarding the Places of Power, the Knights Templar, settled in this media space, attracted by the ancient Celts' cult of water, later Christianized under the miraculous figure of an enigmatic saint, whose name, in itself, says it all: Mariña or Marina.

El entorno boscoso que rodea a Allariz u otra de esas imponentes Fragas gallegas, como diría el escritor Wenceslao Fernández Flórez, esconde, aparte de esos ramales peregrinos que apuntan hacia ese magnético norte que es Compostela, lugares donde los monjes, por increíble que parezca, todavía se sirven de métodos alquimistas para elaborar sus excepcionales licores, como es el caso del monasterio cisterciense de Oseira y también, lo más importante, pequeñas comunidades rurales, que, aparte de sorprender gratamente con su espectacular pintoresquismo, custodian un grandioso patrimonio, histórico-artístico, donde no faltan, tampoco, curiosas tradiciones y misterios ancestrales.

Sería el caso de ese enigmático asentamiento, que, respondiendo al significativo nombre de Augas Santas o Aguas Santas, proporciona una emotiva sorpresa a los sentidos, procurando una singular experiencia de genuina atemporalidad, creando la ilusión de que se está, sin ninguna duda, en un entorno privilegiado que apenas ha cambiado un ápice desde el tiempo en el que los sacerdotes celtas, los famosos druidas, recogían el muérdago de los robustos robles con sus pequeñas hoces de oro, para, posteriormente, danzar al son de las hogueras.

No es casualidad, por tanto, que hasta esos finos rastreadores de la Tradición y fieles sabuesos custodios de los Lugares de Poder, los caballeros templarios, se aposentaran en este espacio mediático, atraídos por el culto a las aguas de los antiguos celtas, posteriormente cristianizado bajo la milagrosa figura de una enigmática santa, cuyo nombre, en sí, lo dice todo: Mariña o Marina.
