Planting ginger at home

I love using ginger a lot. I love to use especially when I want to cook my proteins or even make my stews. I also make ginger juice for exfoliation. So I usually have a lot of it in my store. But then I have an issue with them drying up and not being fresh anymore. In fact the last set I bought became very dry due to lack of usage and I couldn't use them for anything.

I decided to plant them at home. That way, I will no longer spend money buying too much just because I want to store. So if I want to use, I can just go and pluck from my own harvest. I decided to use a little rubber which I no longer use to plant. I first watched a YouTube video to aid me with how to plant.

I cut the rubber into two and filled with soil. I poured water on the soil and allowed the water to enter the soil very well. After that, I kept it outside for some minutes to trap sunlight a bit before I finally planted the ginger. The ginger was already sprouting some thing that looks like roots. I remember when I was still in school we were told to always plant the head that brings out roots. I quickly followed that knowledge I knew and planted.

I hope my ginger starts germinating soon. I will give it like 3-4 weeks to see if it will start growing anything. If it doesn't, I will have no choice than to go back to buying.

A friend told me that this ginger barely grows here in the south because of the kind of soil we have here but does better in the northern part of my country.

Fingers are crossed by the way.

We don't have much space at home, but we put stuff in the windows. I hope your ginger will work out. Didn't try that one yet.

We all should own a plot of land and plant stuff. The world would be much nicer.

Yeah soil types is an important factor to consider when looking to grow crops.

I don’t know if it’s just me but isn’t 3-4 weeks a very long time to wait to see if it grows? I don’t know, maybe it’s because I don’t know much about ginger cultivating.

At least 3-4 weeks for me is enough to know if a plant will do well or not. I hope this one does.

Great. I hope it will grow too so that when I visit, I can harvest some too.

It's a great thing having your own little garden whereby you can easily access herbs that you need without stressing yourself to go to the market all the time
