“The House of Damascene Mosaics” is the simple and beautiful poetic phrase used by writer Gustavo Luis Carrera to refer to Casa Ramos Sucre, the building where the great Cumaná poet José Antonio Ramos Sucre was born and spent part of his childhood.

Much of my youth and adult life belongs to that space, as I had the honor of being one of its co-founders and coordinators for several years. I always return to it, both in my mind and in person. It is one of the places I love most, frequent most, and which occupies part of my soul.
