My Hive Highlight: Unbelievable 2023 ❤️✨

If I had to rate the best year of my life, I think it would definitely be 2023. And believe me, I'm not just saying that because it was the most recent, after thinking about it for a long time, I certainly loved many things from my previous years, but there were others that perhaps not so much. Incredibly, 2023 is the perfect combination of unforgettable moments that have quickly put it at the top of my list. Most brutally of all, many of the great moments were thanks to Hive, so I did have a lot of introspection time to help me select the best of the best from this year, it was rough but I've come to a slightly ambiguous conclusion, so I think I need to start with some other points first.

2023 with a Hive full of graphic design

This year was very busy, remember I belong to the Hive Creators team? Well this year I had many opportunities to push my creativity to the max and explore many ideas that could work for the different situations and events I got to collaborate with. Using my knowledge to the fullest and creating things that were both beautiful and functional was one of my greatest pleasures. I created many things that I am proud of together with this wonderful team that tries to bring value to Hive in everything they do. Among my favourite projects that I was able to collaborate on specifically, I would love to show you my favourites:

• Hive at the LARAFEST, Lara-Venezuela (July, 2023)

I won't lie, creating things representative of branding is a lot of fun for me and when I was told it was about the city of Lara I did a super extensive research: What they did, what colour most of their streets were painted, what their art was like, how unique was the relationship between the music and the people. I did a lot of research that I reported more in depth in the (only) post I made about one of my design journeys, you can check it in my blog, there I left a lot of images and references and some reasons for many decisions.

• Hive at the CRIPTO LATIN FEST, Bogotá-Colombia (August, 2023)

I loved immersing myself in the stories of Colombia and its culture, after the Lara Fest I knew exactly what I had to do to achieve a good result. So I also had a super extensive research about Colombia and Bogotá, its capital. I experimented with a new design style that I hadn't tried before and I loved it madly, I still have a goal to print some of these designs to be able to admire them more often.

• Hive at the CARACAS BLOCKCHAIN WEEK, Caracas-Venezuela (October, 2023)

Collaborating on this project at a graphic design level was brutal, I discovered many things about design that I ignored in the middle of my processes and I understood many other things that I had been doing wrong for a long time. The Hive booth was a challenging moment for me, but with the Hive Creators team I think something really cool was achieved. I also collaborated on other cool things beyond the booth, but the latter definitely took the limelight.

• Hive at the LABITCONF, Buenos Aires-Argentina (November, 2023)

Although I have physically stayed in Venezuela all this year, at least part of my creations went far beyond that. If I could, of course I would like to go and breathe the same air that many artists have gone to breathe in different decades past. Beyond football, Buenos Aires is also an artistic city, but I'm momentarily satisfied that something I did made it there. Argentinians are not maximalists, in fact, they have a very strong and unwavering culture with a lot of love for their football and their mate tea, so I wanted to represent exactly that in a simple, elegant and subtle t-shirt. All I knew is that they liked this little mate I made too much, so I promised myself that I would at least try it next year to do it some honour.

The truth is that beyond creating something cool and that people like, I value what a design can leave me as an emerging lesson designer, to continue improving my processes and techniques in the future.

Eventos de Hive

Leaving my professional side, on a personal level Hive also left me a lot. From the Caracas Blockchain Week to the Hive Summit and then the Hive Summit Tour, of course I was convinced that 2023 will be more than just one of my best years, but the best of all.

• CBW23 and Hive Summmit Tour

I don't even know how to begin to list it among so many great things that happened. Meeting people is not one of my greatest strengths, but I always enjoy meeting and exchanging views with fresh minds and curious smiles who also wonder what I can bring to their lives as a human being. Very poetic perhaps, but with a real touch I suppose. I don't want to expand here, after all, I have two videos explaining my whole experience at CBW23 and all that was the Hive Summit event in Caracas as well as all the way back to Cumana lands, but I will say that these two were definitely a before and after (You can see all this again here and here).

I explored some of my other skills! English has always been kind of my ace up my sleeve, but I never really had such a brutal opportunity to be able to use this card. Until this trip, where a lot of things happened and I ended up translating as much as my brain cells would allow and giving my best effort.

I also internalised a lot of where I wanted to go and what I expected from life, both personally and professionally. I'm not saying that I won't have this introspection again, but having such peculiar moments in your life that make you rethink everything is certainly priceless.

All of this led me to think about new desires and goals that, in my head, still sound a bit far-fetched, but who cares? If ever there was a time to make mistakes, this is it, in my early 20's.

My Hive Higlight.

I don't forget the reason of all this post and after explaining all these moments that formed my 2023 self, now I can explain my higlight, which is too random, but definitely cool.

Ok, if you saw my second video of the trip, let's go back to the Hive Summit Tour; the beach, the sea, the cave, the sun, the jokes and the company. As we climbed the hill, with my zero physical attitude I managed to be at the top of the group, admiring the surroundings, the sea, and the amazing moments I have had in the last two weeks, suddenly, amidst the silence of nature, the clacking of my not at all fierce sandals against the rocks, the occasional pelican and the waves moving strongly in the background, I remember getting to the top of the hill and looking at the horizon where you could see other mini islands of the Mochima National Park.

At the top I stopped and thought: "What the fuck? This has been the best year of my life". I remembered all my creative processes, the people I had met, what I had discovered about myself on a personal level during all those months. I thought about what I had achieved, what I had failed and what I had learned. Right there, in that moment, I felt that it had all been worth it and that my first year in the decade that I was assured life promised the best, I was truly satisfied and took the year for granted.

It was very random, and perhaps the best way to sum it up is that my best moment of the year with Hive was the one where I realised that everything I had done had been worth it. No regrets of any kind.

Hive and the 2024?

The answer is an obvious one, of course. 2023 may have been the best year, but 2024 may become the next number one. It has been a long year, but a very enjoyable and even enriching one. So I hope to see you all in 2024 again, I promise to bring the improved version of Josegrech with me.

Si tuviera que valorar el mejor año de mi vida, creo que sería sin duda el 2023. Y créanme que no lo digo porque fuera el más reciente, después de pensarlo mucho tiempo, sin duda amé muchas cosas de mis anteriores años, pero hubo otras que quizás no tanto. Increíblemente, el 2023 es la combinación perfecta de momentos inolvidables que rápidamente lo han posicionado en lo más alto de mi top. Lo más brutal de todo es que muchos de los momentos geniales fueron gracias a Hive, así que sí tuve un gran tiempo de introspección que me ayudara a seleccionar lo mejor de lo mejor de este año, fue rudo pero he llegado a una conclusión un poco ambigua, así que creo que tengo que iniciar por otros puntos antes.

2023 con un Hive lleno de diseño gráfico

Este año fue muy movido, ¿recuerdan que pertenezco al team de Hive Creators? Pues este año tuve muchas oportunidades de llevar mi creatividad al máximo y explorar muchas ideas que pudieran funcionar para las diferentes situaciones y eventos con los que logré colaborar. Utilizar mis conocimientos al máximo y crear cosas tanto lindas como funcionales fué uno de mis mayores placeres. Creé muchas cosas de las que estoy orgullosa junto a este maravilloso team que intenta aportar valor a Hive en todo lo que hace. Entre mis proyectos favoritos en los que pude colaborar en específico, amaría mostrarles mis favoritos:

• Hive en el LARAFEST, Lara-Venezuela (Julio, 2023)

No mentiré, crear cosas representativas del branding me resulta muy divertido y cuando me dijeron que se trataba de la ciudad de Lara hice una investigación super extensa: Que hacían, de que color estaban pintadas las mayorías de sus calles, como era su arte, que tan pintoresca era la relación entre la música y las personas. Hice mucha investigación que relaté más a profundidad en el (único) post que hice sobre una de mis travesías diseñando, pueden chequearlo en mi blog, allí dejé muchas imágenes y referencias y algunos porque de muchas decisiones.

Amé sumergirme entre las historias de Colombia y su cultura, después del Lara Fest ya sabía que era exactamente lo que tenía que hacer para lograr un buen resultado. Así que también tuve una investigación super extensa sobre Colombia y Bogotá, su capital. Experimenté con un nuevo estilo de diseño que no había probado antes y que amé con locura, aún tengo de meta imprimir alguno de estos diseños para poder admirarlo con más frecuencia.

• Hive en la CARACAS BLOCKCHAIN WEEK, Caracas-Venezuela (Octubre, 2023)

Colaborar en este proyecto a nivel de diseño gráfico fue brutal, descubrí muchas cosas sobre diseño que ignoraba en medio de mis procesos y comprendí otras tantas que había estado haciendo mal desde hace mucho. El stand de Hive fue un momento sin duda retador para mí, pero con el equipo de Hive Creators creo que se logró algo muy chévere. También colaboré en otras cosas chéveres más allá del stand, pero este último sin duda se llevó el protagonismo.

• HIVE BLOCKCHAIN SUMMIT, Caracas-Venezuela (Octubre, 2023)

Mi mayor experimentación, sin duda creo que muchas veces me cuestioné muchas cosas con este, y tuve que explorar nuevos caminos para lograr algo diferente a lo que había creado antes, fueron muchos ensayo y error pero el resultado es uno que me encantó. Acá tuve una colaboración mucho más amplia y también tuve mucha libertad de crear de forma creativa, así que creo que de todos, es mi favorito por lo importante que me cambió en el proceso. De segundo sin duda alguna dejaría al de Colombia, pero este me aportó mucho más de lo que pude esperar.

• Hive en LABITCONF, Buenos Aires-Argentina (Noviembre, 2023)

Aunque físicamente haya permanecido en Venezuela todo este año, al menos parte de mis creaciones fueron mucho más allá de eso. Si pudiera, por supuesto que quisiera ir a respirar el mismo aire que muchos artistas han ido a respirar en diferentes décadas pasadas. Más allá del futbol, Buenos Aires también es una ciudad artística, pero me conformo momentáneamente con que algo que hice haya llegado hasta allá. Los Argentinos no son maximalistas, de hecho, tienen una cultura muy fuerte en inquebrantable con mucho amor por su futbol y su mate, así que quise representar exactamente eso en una camiseta sencilla, elegante y sutil. Lo único que supe es que gustó demasiado este pequeño matecito que realicé, así que me prometí que al menos lo probaría el año entrante para hacerle algo de honor.

La verdad es que más allá de crear algo chévere y que a las personas les agrade, valoro mucho lo que un diseño puede dejarme a mí como diseñadora emergente de lección, para seguir mejorando mis procesos y técnicas en futuras ocasiones.

Eventos de Hive

Saliendo de mi lado profesional, a nivel personal Hive también me dejó mucho. Desde la Caracas Blockchain Week hasta el Hive Summit y luego el Hive Summit Tour, por su puesto que terminé de convencerme de que el 2023 más que solo uno de mis mejores años, sino el mejor de todos.

• CBW23 y Hive Summmit Tour

Esto ni siquiera se como empezar a enumerarlo entre tantas cosas geniales que pasaron. Conocer personas no es uno de mis fuertes más grandes, pero siempre me gusta coincidir e intercambiar opiniones con mentes frescas y sonrisas curiosas que también se preguntan que puedo aportarles yo como ser humano a sus vidas. Muy poético quizás, pero con un toque real supongo. No quiero extenderme aquí, después de todo, tengo dos videos explicando mi experiencia completa en la CBW23 y todo lo que fue el evento caraqueño de Hive Summit así como toda la vuelta hasta tierras cumanenses, pero sí diré que estos dos fueron definitivamente un antes y después (Pueden ver todo esto de nuevo acá y aquí)

¡Exploré otras de mis habilidades! El inglés siempre ha sido como mi az bajo la manga, pero nunca en realidad había tenido una oportunidad tan brutal de poder usar esta carta. Hasta este viaje, donde muchas cosas pasaron y terminé hasta traduciendo a lo máximo que mis neuronas permitían y dando mi mejor esfuerzo.

También internalicé mucho hacia donde quería llegar y que esperaba de la vida, tanto personal como profesional. No estoy diciendo que no tendré de nuevo esta introspección, pero lograr tener momentos de tu vida tan peculiares que te hagan recuestionar todo sin duda no tiene precio.

Todo esto me llevó a pensar en nuevos deseos y metas que, en mi cabeza siguen sonando algo descabelladas, pero ¿a quién le importa? Si hay algún momento para cometer errores es este, en pleno inicio de mis 20's.

Mi Hive Higlight

No olvido el porque de todo este post y después de explicar todos estos momentos que formaron a mi yo del 2023, ahora sí puedo explicar mi higlight, que es demasiado random, pero sin duda genial.

Ok, si vieron mi segundo video del viaje, transportémonos al viaje del Hive Summit Tour; la playa, el mar, la cueva, el sol, los chistes y la compañía. Mientras subíamos el cerro, con mi cero actitud física logré estar en la punta del grupo, admirando los alrededores, el mar, y los asombrosos momentos que había tenido en las últimas dos semanas, de repente, en medio del silencio de la naturaleza, el chasquido de mis cholas para nada guerreras contras las piedras, uno que otro pelícano y las olas moviendose con fuerza al fondo, recuerdo llegar a la cima y mirar al horizonte donde veías otras mini islas del parque Nacional Mochima.

Estando allí arriba me detuve y pensé: "¿Qué mierda? Este ha sido el mejor año de mi vida." Recordé todos mis procesos creativos, las personas que había conocido, lo que había descubierto de mí a nivel personal durante todos esos meses. Pensé en lo que había logrado, lo que había fallado y lo que había aprendido. Justo allí, en ese momento, sentí que todo había valido la pena y que mi primer año en la década que me aseguraron que la vida prometía lo mejor, estaba realmente satisfecha y daba por sentado el año.

Fue muy random, y quizás la mejor manera de resumirlo es que mi mejor momento del año con Hive fue aquel en el que me di cuenta de que todo lo que había hecho había valido la pena. Sin arrepentimientos de ningún tipo.

¿Hive en el 2024?

La respuesta es un obvio, por supuesto. El 2023 pudo haber sido el mejor año, pero el 2024 puede convertirse en el siguiente de number one. Ha sido un largo año, pero muy divertido y hasta enriquecedor. Así que espero verlos a todo en el 2024 nuevamente, prometo llevar conmigo a la versión mejorada de Josegrech.
