Can you give up City life to have Fresh food without preservatives?
I've been posting pictures of my travels lately and the next stop is reviewing the agriculture practices of this place. Most of the food I ate there was freshly harvested.
They were the best carbs and stables I've ever had, they came fresh and tasted real good, quite different from what I eat on a daily. I didn't know food could taste so different, until I ate freshly harvested stuffs.
These guys are 80% farmers and they plant rice, yam, palm fruits, vegetables, chili and a lot of other crops, I've never seen food so cheap until I got to this place.
They reared goats, cows, lambs and different type of animals. They have big and small farmer, and they had a lot of land to make heaps for root and tuber crops.
These guys were the first to start rice planting in Nigeria, they had their localized rice that was basically healthier, although it was as sweet as the foreign types, but they were healthier and the type that the doctor would recommend.

The reasons why people would not stay here is that they do not have the amenities you'll normally find in a city area; good drinkable water, electricity, modern bathrooms and well insulated and protected houses against cold and all that.
90% of houses here are built traditionally with bathrooms externally and this isn't such a comfortable thing for a modern man. 10% of houses are modern and well built, but these actually belonged to wealthy folks who already made money in the big cities.

However this is a good place to build some good commercial and agriculture business model for someone with the cash and the ability to want to scale. Folks here would naturally live longer if they weren't born with any birth defects or developed health issues along the way, why?
Because they'll have the opportunities to eat natural food without preservatives. Although these guys are natural tobacco lovers, but they have access to the best of natural food.
Their Oranges were sweeter than honey, I found it hard not to indulge myself. With these pictures, I wanted to show their unique styles of planting, their tall trees, beautiful forest areas, and what rural living felt like.
Aha! I can see you're making the most of your trip and enjoying fresh food produce. No doubt these produce taste better and are healthier too because they're just organic.
!BBH
Yes and without added preservatives. I'm back from that trip, just sharing all my experiences from it..
Living off of healthy food is an advantage, and I try to do so as much as possible. Chemicals aren't good for us, yet they're in all prepared foods in the big city.
Living out in the country I don't mind, but having an outdoor bathroom I will pass on. I spent enough time in the military dealing with that crap. Those are beautiful pictures, and you could build an agricultural empire in a place like that. It's hard work and you're at the mercy of the weather and the government sadly.
Yeah, I hate outdoor bathroom as well, but that's the situation here, and the locals don't have options. Getting water is even harder, you need to go to a public place, holding a container for water and then carry that back home
I wonder how rice can grow there, afaik it needs a lot of water and there there is not a lot it seems... Oranges too... I gotta say there is a compromise, I live in the city, but for vegetables and some fruit I go to a local farmer so it's good food, you could do the same there when in the city, go visit them and buy
Actually they plant the rice in waterlogged areas of the farm, also this is the season where there are no rain for a few months, so they depend on artificial irrigation to get things going.
To transport these fruits to the city area is a lot of work and distance and basically the people who can afford to do it actually inflate the prices so high that you cannot afford it.
But what if you go there instead? So you buy directly from farmers... Or is too much road?
sometimes it's just necessary that we just take out time to explore outdoor ...breath fresh air and intake nature than stuck up in our A/C offices homes and cars ....which is not healthy....
I see you're doing great with your time out ...enjoy
I sure would find it very hard to adjust living in the countryside after spending all of my life in the city. The fresh natural foods and cleaner air are what I would have to hold on to when experiencing the downsides of living in such a place. I think being wealthy too will make it more worthwhile.
Hi Josh
What fruit is that on slide 7?
Sometimes I find it hard to believe that there are places like these where there's no light and the basic things we have around us aren't there for them.
Such a beautiful and quite place
It's oranges and it's definitely the sweetest and freshest orange I ever tasted in my entire life, Yes there are places like this, unfortunately we have to choose between this, or going for the city life, difficult to have everything
It looks just like an apple tho.
Sad!
Home grown stuff always taste bettr. I think it's good that there aren't as many chemicals, but I also don't think I could give up the convience in the cities. It sounds like it would be rough, and I think nature always look nice when you are just living out there.
