Quisiera hacer una apreciación de todo lo que viví en un reciente viaje a Puerto Píritu, ubicado en el Estado Anzoátegui, en pleno oriente venezolano. Me gustaría que este contenido sirva de divulgación para que más personas conozcan sobre la arquitectura, cultura y naturaleza de este mágico lugar.

Muy cerca de la ciudad de Barcelona, capital del estado oriental, se ubica Puerto Píritu, una ciudad con alrededor de 36.000 habitantes. Rodeada de relieves costeros y arropada por su conocida laguna que resguarda zonas de manglares; esta riqueza natural, junto a su clima tropical y encanto arquitectónico hacen de esta ciudad un atractivo turístico muy importante dentro del estado Anzoátegui.

I would like to share my thoughts on everything I experienced on a recent trip to Puerto Píritu, located in Anzoátegui State, in the heart of eastern Venezuela. I hope this content will help spread the word so that more people can learn about the architecture, culture, and nature of this magical place.

Very close to the city of Barcelona, the capital of the eastern state, is Puerto Píritu, a city with around 36,000 inhabitants. Surrounded by coastal hills and sheltered by its well-known lagoon that protects mangrove areas, this natural wealth, together with its tropical climate and architectural charm, make this city a very important tourist attraction within the state of Anzoátegui.

Durante una semana estuve quedándome en este lugar encantador, durante ese tiempo tuve la oportunidad de visitar distintos puntos de la ciudad, conocer lugares históricos y conocer parte de sus costumbres de la mano de su gente, que debo decir son personas calurosas, amables y muy educadas, tratan bien al turista y cautivan con su acento oriental moderadamente marcado en comparación con otras poblaciones orientales del país.

Cuando supe que conocería este lugar me sentí muy emocionado y tenía muchas expectativas, al principio pensé en las playas y toda la zona costera que me esperaba, pero la realidad superó mis expectativas. Una de las cosas que más llamó mi atención fue la arquitectura de estilo colonial, aún se conservan edificaciones coloniales desde su fundación en 1513.

I stayed in this charming place for a week, during which time I had the opportunity to visit different parts of the city, discover historical sites, and learn about some of its customs from its people, who I must say are warm, friendly, and very polite. They treat tourists well and captivate them with their moderately marked eastern accent compared to other eastern populations in the country.

When I found out I would be visiting this place, I was very excited and had high expectations. At first, I thought about the beaches and the entire coastal area that awaited me, but the reality exceeded my expectations. One of the things that caught my attention the most was the colonial-style architecture. Colonial buildings from its founding in 1513 are still preserved.

La cultura, la religión y el turismo hacen una simbiosis perfecta en esta ciudad, en la cual se encuentran edificaciones religiosas imponentes como la Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción (Píritu) de estilo barroco y construida desde 1674, su figura resalta desde las alturas de la ciudad, imponiendo carácter, respeto y devoción.

Culture, religion, and tourism come together perfectly in this city, which is home to imposing religious buildings such as the Church of the Immaculate Conception (Píritu) in the Baroque style and built in 1674, its figure stands out from the heights of the city, imposing character, respect, and devotion.

Otro lugar con valor histórico son las Ruinas de la Fragua de Piritu, una construcción que data de 1656 y cuyo origen es un misterio para algunos propios y visitantes, aunque la versión más aceptada es que funcionaba como un antiguo aljibe en épocas de misioneros. Por otra parte, hay que mencionar el Mercado Municipal de Puerto Píritu, el lugar por excelencia para encontrar los puestos de ventas de los pescadores de la zona entre otros productos propios del lugar.

Another place of historical value is the Ruins of the Piritu Forge, a construction dating back to 1656, whose origin is a mystery to some locals and visitors alike, although the most widely accepted version is that it functioned as an ancient cistern in missionary times. On the other hand, we must mention the Municipal Market of Puerto Píritu, the place par excellence to find the stalls of local fishermen, among other local products.

El Faro de Puerto Píritu, ubicado en la Avenida Fernández Padilla (conocida también como boulevard) es otra de las joyas de esta ciudad. Se encuentra entre el mercado municipal y el acceso a la playa de Puerto Píritu en toda la línea costera; a su alrededor se ubican distintos comercios, dando a la ciudad un atractivo turístico único, sobre todo durante las noches.

The Puerto Píritu Lighthouse, located on Fernández Padilla Avenue (also known as the boulevard), is another of this city's gems. It is located between the municipal market and the access to Puerto Píritu beach along the entire coastline. Surrounding it are various shops, giving the city a unique tourist attraction, especially at night.

Si de playas hablamos la principal lo tiene todo, ubicada en todo el recorrido del "Boulevard Fernández Padilla" recorre toda la línea costera hasta el inicio de la laguna, cuenta con grandes extensiones de arena blanca, palmeras que brindan sombra natural y variedad de locales comerciales, restaurantes y otros servicios. Hay que hacer mención especial a las llamadas "Isletas", ubicadas a 45 minutos desde Puerto Píritu, son islas desiertas de gran valor natural y turístico.

Pienso que una semana es poco tiempo para conocer todas las maravillas que ofrece esta ciudad, sin embargo, al terminar mis vacaciones me sentí sumamente feliz y pleno de haber podido vivir cada experiencia y por cada lugar visitado.

When it comes to beaches, the main one has it all. Located along the entire length of “Boulevard Fernández Padilla,” it runs along the coastline to the beginning of the lagoon and has large stretches of white sand, palm trees that provide natural shade, and a variety of shops, restaurants, and other services. Special mention should be made of the so-called “Isletas,” located 45 minutes from Puerto Píritu, which are deserted islands of great natural and tourist value.

I think a week is not enough time to see all the wonders this city has to offer, but at the end of my vacation, I felt extremely happy and fulfilled to have been able to live each experience and visit each place.

Me di cuenta qué Puerto Píritu es una verdadera joya escondida en el oriente venezolano, de la que poco se habla y que tanto tiene para ofrecer, por eso decidí aportar con mis apreciaciones a divulgar sobre su encanto, belleza natural, su valor arquitectónico, y sobre todo su gente, el verdadero encanto de esta ciudad.

I realized that Puerto Píritu is a true hidden gem in eastern Venezuela, one that is little talked about and has so much to offer.
