The descending Bear sculpture
Hello and good morning to all, Today I'd like to share a bear I carved for a great customer on the other side of the country.
Here he is in the raw and all chainsaw...
Details didn't take too long as I did most of the work with the saw. Something most chainsaw sculptors strive for.
Hit him with the torch to soften up and get rid of rough edges.
As well as flapsanding the char off to soften even more..
Airbrushed the black and dry brushed the grey for the rocks to finish off, or so I thought.
Apparently the wood wasn't completely dry and had a weak spot, resulting in a nice sized crack down the side of the bear. Couldn't ship him across the country in that condition. So I filled the cracks with shims and gorilla glue.
Let it dry then shaved the shim excess and repainted.
Like the cracks never happened..
I hope you enjoyed seeing what I saw, if so feel free to upvote and reblog. I love what I do and I am happy to share here on Peakd. There's much more to share so please do stay tuned. Thanks for looking,
Jon
