Heron carved from catalpa wood

Hello and good morning all,
Today I'd like to share a sculpture I pieced together from some catalpa that a friend gave me.

It started out as a few small pieces of catalpa...

Didn't really know where I was going with it at this point..

Here is where it started to make sense..

Glued it up and got started on the base..

The base was carved, now all I had to do was glue the head/neck on..

Then on to refine and sand..

This sculpture wasn't for anyone specifically but didn't take long at all to sell.
