Havana in Shades of Gray: A Family Afternoon in San Francisco | #monomad

Hello, Hive community!

Today I’d like to invite you to join me on a little walk—one of those spontaneous moments that end up becoming unforgettable. On a recent outing with my family through the heart of Old Havana, we let ourselves be carried away by the timeless charm of Plaza de San Francisco.

While my children ran and laughed, trying (without much success) to catch up with the pigeons, I had my camera ready. And as those who love black-and-white photography know, there are scenes that simply demand to be captured without color—where the light, the shadows, the textures of the stone, and the pure movement speak for themselves.

This square, located right in front of the Minor Basilica of San Francisco de Asís and watched over by the old building of the Lonja del Comercio, is the perfect stage for playing with monochrome. The contrast between the timeless solidity of colonial architecture and the fleeting grace of the birds in flight creates a truly unique atmosphere.

Here I share the result of that afternoon. I hope these black-and-white photographs convey a bit of the calm and nostalgic beauty that lingers in this corner of Cuba.

Dedicated with affection to the wonderful #blackandwhite community and the #monomad contest. It’s always a pleasure to contribute and to discover the inspiring work of everyone.

And what about you? Do you have a place that always whispers to be photographed in black and white?

I’ll be reading your comments!

A big hug.
