Embracing New Horizons: My Journey to CTU Danao

Hello! I am back to give a brief of my past week’s activities. Are you excited? Come on, join me! Two Sundays ago,I made a journey from here to Cebu Technological University in Danao. But for something. If you have followed my other blogs then you know that in both Danao and Carmen CTU offers such games that is why I usually play chess there. Let’s now go through the journey.

Do you know? On the 14th of April, we should have been going to Danao City at exactly seven O'clock AM. The previous day, April 13th, I was so happy about this that I went to bed early and woke up at 4 am ready. After having a bath, I took milk with graham biscuits to make sure I had eaten something before leaving home. My father drove me off at quarter past five because I didn’t take my motorcycle with me today.Of course we were bound for Danao for six days and we already had the bus service arranged so it would be stupid for me to ride my bike.

It turned out that when my dad left me at bus stop, there were no buses there. So, my father thought of going a bit further ahead believing maybe a bus had long gone. After driving for about 5 minutes, we eventually saw a bus on the road. Luckily, we managed to catch it just in time in order to meet up with the other people from our group who were also going for service. As we travelled, I was too thrilled when heading to Danao because this was my first time to experience college life. I’m never going to forget this no matter how old I will become.

At about 6:20 am, I arrived at the point where we were supposed to be picked by the buses and there were already many sportsmen waiting there. When I reached there, I searched for my colleagues whom we were supposed to participate in that game together and after locating them; they took us inside one of those assigned buses. It was really hot in there since it became obvious that the bus did not have any air conditioning and stayed put due to our scheduled departure at 7:00am while it was still six thirty when we got into it. Nevertheless, even under such conditions of heat, our minds were made up on what we wanted out of here. It was now seven o’clock but our bus never left,” another ten more minutes” we finally began our journey at quarter past seven am.

Some athletes chatted while on the way so as to while away the journey. Just before we started traveling, our nurse administered drugs to prevent motion sickness. After about an hour of travel, I became tired and fell asleep for a while. But I didn’t sleep that well as I am not used to sleeping in a bus.

That’s what we saw while on the bus. It is really fun riding a bus as you will get to see new places which you have never seen. Just like me, this is my first time going north and you feel grateful of things such as sea, buildings etc.

When we neared it, all of a sudden we missed CTU Danao because the driver did not know where it was. Luckily, we did not go too far beyond it. At last, we arrived and firstly took a group photo for the event; that had been for us sending it up on the page so that they could post them cheering us upon for this occasion representing our school.

After half an hour of arriving at CTU Danao, we went to where they were distributing food because we were hungry from the long journey. CTU Danao is really beautiful, and their school grounds are vast. It's no wonder they chose this place to hold the event because it's perfect for all the schools involved.

After we finished eating breakfast, we headed to the sleeping area assigned to us because we'll be staying here for six days. It turns out we'll be sleeping in the grandstand, where there are rooms available for us, but unfortunately, in our room, there's no cellphone signal, no electric fan, and it's really hot. So far, everything has been alright since we arrived here, and I'm grateful that we arrived safely.

This journey to Cebu Technological University in Danao was a big step for me. I've been practicing chess for a while, but this was my first time experiencing college life outside of my hometown. It was exciting to be part of an event that brought together athletes from different places. Despite the challenges, like the hot bus ride and the unexpected detour, I realized how much I value new experiences and exploring new places. The beautiful scenery along the way reminded me of the wonders waiting to be discovered, and arriving safely at our destination filled me with gratitude. This trip was not just about chess or competition; it was about embracing new opportunities and cherishing every moment of the journey.

I can tell it was a very good experience for you and your classmates. Chess is something that has always caught my attention, since you have to think about every move and that is amazing.

Definitely! It was really great for us. Chess is cool because you have to think a lot before making a move. It's like planning a big strategy and trying to outsmart your opponent. It's not just about being good at it, but also about understanding what your opponent might do next. It's a fun and challenging game that keeps you thinking all the time.
