It's 6am on Tuesday, May 16, 2022, I'm sitting in the back of my van and it's raining outside again ... no sunrise happening today ... again 🌧️

I'm parking right beside the lake Wörthersee, which is close to home, and watch raindrops splashing on the water. They are also knocking on my van's roof, but I don't want to let them in ;)
In 2 hours I have an appointment with my automobile club for the annual check of the van to make sure everything is ok and it's still roadworthy.

So, because there's no sunrise to photograph, I thought I might as well take advantage of the waiting time and make a post right here at the lake while listening to the rain.

Yesterday morning was the first time without rain in over a week or so, and so I decided to drive to a lovely gorge in a woodland nearby to take some more waterfall photos.

I should have thought that after the tons of rain we've had in the past days there would be a lot of water in the little river and thus the waterfalls might be a little bit to full.

Because of the much water most waterfalls were not as beautiful as usual and so I tried to capture more of the green that surrounded me - Spring has finally arrived here and it is awesome green everywhere. What a relief after the muddy gray time after the snow had gone.

I wished I would have had my macro lens with me because these fiddlehead ferns looked so sweet ... and the Green was just awesome. I think I have said that before, haven't I?

I have no idea what kind of trees I have photographed, but some had lovely fresh grown twigs and leaves like the one below ...

... and some trees have fallen during the Winter. Maybe the snow was too heavy for the tree in the below image which is laying on a bed of ferns.

In the images below you can see the amount of water that was flowing, and it was more dirty brown coloured.

So, it's time now to leave this place to drive to the automobile club. I will finish this post later in the afternoon and publish it tonight.

All photos were taken with the Canon EOS R and one of these lenses: Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM, Canon RF 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM, Canon RF 100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM, Canon EF 16-35mm 1:4 L IS USM, Canon EF 50mm 1:1.8 L STM, SIGMA 105mm 1:2,8 DG MACRO HSM.

Green isn't my favourite colour, but especially after the dull gray time after Winter has ended, I love green very much, and you're right, when I'm on a green meadow or a green mountain pasture I almost immediately feel calm and relaxed 😀

It really is beautiful out there with all the moss contrasting with the water. I've never been able to get those long exposures of flowing water. These are stunning.

These are 0.3 to 0.5 seconds exposures. If it's not still a little dark in the morning, you might want to use a ND filter to get longer exposures. It's not that hard, but you will need a tripod to get a sharp image with such a long exposure.

Oh that's not that long, I thought it was a lot longer. That's probably why when I've tried before it's just overexposed horribly hahaha.

I will have to check but I don't think I have a Neutral Density filter, only a polarizing filter, which might work - I'll give it a go 😁

Depending on the speed of the water you set the shutter speed. I usually don't go above half a second.
The polarizer will certainly help, because in addition to the polarizing effect it also lets less light on the sensor what should extend the shutter speed.

I love to spend some time at the sea or in the more flat areas in the north of our country, but after a few days I want to go back home where I am surrounded by mountains. So I can completely understand that you want to go there again 👍😀

Sounds like you had some fun, daughter is coping well with studies and you behind the lens. Enjoy your evening, always enjoy seeing what one captures quite often surprised how many memories photography brings to one even only after a couple of days.

My evening didn't last long, because after two nights in the van and some little hikes I have been quite too tired last night to stay up long 😴 !LOLZ

There are too many photos - I'm shooting in RAW format what means I have to edit every single photo on the computer ... so much work 😅

Getting used to sleeping in the van will take a little while, good to test drive before planning longer journeys away.

Using RAW format always additional tweaks being more professional, wish my husbands camera still worked I'm sure he dropped it, the guy that fixed did not get it into good working order again either.

Weekend must be !WINEX time with !LUV to the North.

I'm sleeping very comfortable in the van, but I have to get used of hearing different and sometimes unknown noises while I am in the van - nobody can see inside, but I cannot see what's outside neither 🤣 !LOLZ

Half of the weekend is gone already and all I have done today was editing my RAW files - somehow I wished I had never started shooting in RAW, but you have so many more possibilities to edit the images than by shooting in JPEG.

Sending !LUV and !WINE down to the South 🌞

Oh yes, I have tried to do as much a possible to spend most time somewhere in nature. The weather was and still is mostly wet and rainy, but I don't mind, because on rainy days I have most places completely for me alone 😁

Glorious green Hannes. Fiddleheads grow here and they are quite delicious, cooked and eaten with butter and splash of vinegar. Maybe a different type of fern than the lovely ones you photographed. They have to be picked while the top is in a tight curl. Mostly you see them along streams,

The waterfalls are beautiful and the sound of the running water is always delightful.

I think I have heard that you can eat the fiddleheads, but I haven't tried it yet. Maybe I'll think of taking some with me next time I walk by a river ... and if I get sick you'll have to take the next flight to take care of me 😉

I have taken this week off and have visited two gorges with lots of waterfalls already. In my eyes the green has even become more intense. So I had to decrease the saturation in my photos 😁

It's raining here, and I'm having a lazy Saturday. That means I'm on the Hive and later I want to carry on editing my photos. Maybe I'll go to another waterfall in the afternoon, because after the much rain we've had in the last weeks, the one I want to visit, must be awesome.

I hope you find some fiddleheads to cook, Hannes, Once you pick the heads and a bit of stem, rinse them in cold water and take away any of the brown husk that covers some of the head. Once cleaned cook them in boiling water for about 15 minutes. I like to eat them as a vegetable with potatoes and whatever else you have for dinner.

I even think that a while ago we have talked about cooking fiddleheads 😉 I really hope that I'll remember when I see some of them - thanks for the recipe 😀

Here it's also colder and more gray and rainy than usual. I have stayed at home and spent my day at the computer.

Yes we did mention the fiddleheads before, Hannes. It’s a real delicacy here and they also sell them in the produce dept of the grocery stores but they are not the same as when freshly picked.

Wind and rain today but trees are getting their green foliage despite the weather. Power was even interrupted for a few hours.

I like the photos, you don't need a macro camera, that's my opinion, the small branches look great and the amazing waterfalls, I love them, your photos are very good, I like them

Especially in Spring when everything's growing, I like to take macro photos of the fresh growth, but this year I always forget the macro lens it seems 😅
