The Glow of Nature | Hokitika Glow Worm Dell πŸ‡³πŸ‡Ώ

My first time in Hokitika was a memorable one. It was a weekend away, and we went to the Hokitika Dell to see the glow warms. It was my first time seeing a glow warm, and in fact, I've never heard about glow warms before πŸ˜€

My photos weren't that good on my first visit to Hokitika Dell, so I never shared them.

On the 31st of July, the job took me to Hokitika, and I stayed the night just 600m from the glow warm dell. Of course, I will take a drive down there.

It was pitch dark, and I just walked into complete darkness. After a few steps, I saw people in the dark taking photos.

Everyone tried to get their best shots πŸ“Έ and these are the photos I got away with.

You have to photograph the glow warms without camera flashlight to avoid their glow light going off πŸ˜€ and you are most probably going to get crappie shots with camera flash anyway.
So it wasn't easy shots but fun.

I've never managed to take photos of fireflies or any other insects that create such an atmosphere in the dark, it's truly wonderful

This is the first time I'm learning about glow warms. What a marvel to observe, beautifully unorderly glows :)

I guess we don't have glow warms in Africa, it is a new wonder and experience for me here.
