Mount Difficulty Was No Joke! | Work Trip with a View πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

As mentioned in my Guyed wire post from Mount Difficulty, I feel I should share the photos from this challenging mountain before sharing other photos in my folders πŸ“‚ πŸ˜€

Cromwell is a little over five hours' drive from Christchurch. The plan was to get up to the mountain and leave our trailer up there. So, with about 3 hours before it starts to get dark, we attempted driving up the mountain only to get stuck in less than 2km of ascending up the mountain.

It was a steep spot. We had to offload everything except our drum of cable to reduce the load capacity on the trailer before we managed to get it going.

Basically, 95% of our trailer content was offloaded and left on the side track, which we then loaded in our vehicles when we drove down to take them up the following morning.

So day 1 was not friendly at us. It was a challenge after the challenge on every single day that we were on Mount Difficulty. These photos are from day 2 when we actually commenced work on this mountain, though the views got me photographing the moments up there every now and then.

The view is breathtaking, and no matter how tired you are, your work will feel lighter, surrounded by such stunning natural beauty. The weather is also very supportive.

Definitely breathtaking views from up the mountain ⛰️ though the weather is far from supportive even with the sun out. Strong winds and chilly cold all the time there. 😊

A true challenge to get up especially with all the gear.
It was worth taking many photos Joe, beautiful.
Have a lovely evening.

Every day was a challenge there were spots on the track when I loss control of the vehicle because of a slippery defrost track.
I took over a hundred photos πŸ“Έ, I probably will make two more posts of different days about Mount Difficulty.

Thank you Jackie, got a bit cold and I took medication to prevent the cold knocking me down. How are you feeling now?

Oh my… I so can imagine Joe. It is tricky to drive here too in the long winter. And slippery spots are scary.
Wow, thats awesome you took so many. Looking forward to them.

You are welcome Joe. Good. Keep warm and keep moving in the cold especially outside.
I am recovering although it goes very slowly and today it got a bit worse again… but I keep resting and hope my body heals slowly.
I want to do so much but… I just need to have a bit more patience.
Take care!

Be patient Jackie you will be well again soon.
Am also not feeling too well so I am taking Friday off work.
For me its the cold though, working outdoors in winter and rainy is just too hectic on me.

Take good care of yourself 😊

Thank you Joe. I know… and have to take it easy… slowly and all will be fine.

How are you feeling now? Hope you recovered and could rest.
Wintery weather and working outside is tough. One does build up resistance to it, just slowly.
Thanks! Take care too.

Wonderful shots of the place, the views are quite stunning, a bit larger than life.
I guess the challenge comes with the territory lol, which is at least rewarding too with such views :)

Later I realized this particular site is listed as a difficult site on the telecommunications provider I work for's lists of difficult sites so the really suits Mt Difficulty.

The sunrise views are amazing which I am yet to share.
Thanks bro πŸ™

The name is very fitting then! Good that now you're aware of this piece of information and can plan better if next time comes around.

Looking forward to those too :)

Yes, the travels are quite an incredible exploration experience that is just not possible unless one is has lots of money to be making such travels just to explore

It was, and extra care required each time we drove up and down the narrow track with big drops.

Thank you 😊
