Africa's Longest Graffiti Mural Part 13: CCC's Street Art Contest #163

avatar

Perhaps the next time I will be sharing a street art post it might be from New Zealand as I am preparing for my departure with a flight yet to be booked.

I have seen there are street arts in Christchurch NZ, so am surely going to share them when I arrive there and get the chance to explore the town but before that, I still have a lot to share from this wall in Benin so here is my entry for CCC's Street Art Contest #163.

The contest is hosted by @digi-me and you can read up on the rules to participate here.

Also, this is the 13th series of the longest graffiti wall in Benin.

I just loved this artwork the moment I saw it, the expression on the face of the woman in her dress reflects a typical African woman occupied and focused on her work.

20230617_123615.jpg

The woman looks engrossed with cotton work. The artist is probably depicting Benin's cotton production as the country is the 4th largest cotton producer in Africa.

A closer shot of her.

I am happy to find the artist on Instagram.

His Instagram handle is, @akindefatiou.

This mural (Effet Graff) is located in Cotonou in the Republic of Benin.

The aim of the Effet Graff festival is to achieve one of the longest murals in the world.

As always, another great work on this wall. Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.

And enjoy your flight to New Zealand. It's going to be a long one, but it's a dream country to visit. We'll be waiting for Christchur's street art photos. Cheers

Thanks, I am always happy to share 😇
From recent developments, it seems I will only be leaving for NZ in the second week of October but yeah I will definitely be hunting for street art over there.

Hahaha yes you know the geography of the place, I have kept myself enlightened to some extent on NZ's geography. South is colder, am glad that am going there in Spring.

Good evening Jackie, it has been a busy day.
Hope your day has been great.

Thanks

Yep, I know the geography as I had looked into it too.
It is less populated and more rough nature around there. It is just stunning.
Glad you go in the spring. You ease in then.

Good evening Joe. Hope yours was still nice even though busy.
My day was long, lots of traveling… but worth it again to see her. 🤗

You are welcome.
Night night 😴

Yes just a little over 5 million population
Am going to love it
The cost of living is just way too high from my research so far.

It was a good day despite it being busy for me thanks.

Good night Jackie 😊

Yes, not too much on the South Island.
I think you will. So much to explore.
Cost of living is high, I hope it reflects in your salary and all will be fine.

Good to hear.
Good night Joe

Good afternoon Joe (a day late😁)
My day was busy… yesterday. It was 2 busses, a taxi and 2 flights back home. The first flight was delayed and I only just made my second flight yesterday.
So back home now… tired 🥱 I caught also a cold 🤧🤒 or something… again… my immune system can’t handle traveling… sigh 😔 now time to rest… before my real holiday is about to start Thursday.

I can imagine. It is so different one country to the next. Ireland is at the moment the most expensive European country to live in… I soooo notice. Especially now hubby still has no job. We are looking in many countries for jobs, there seem to be many others looking too. One job gets more than 400 applicants at the moment 😳

Your new work/company in NZ knows the cost of living and will adjust, so don’t worry. You should be fine.
Do they provide housing to start with? Or help in finding…

We noticed that too, living and moving to other countries. Salaries are adjusted to the cost of living…
If they don’t, they never get people from abroad to work for them.

Have a lovely Friday Joe 😊

It was a hectic journey for you, glad you made it home safe, I remember you got wet by the rain the other day so you probably caught cold from there. Do get some treatment for it so it doesn't disturb your travel plans next week.

Interesting that we going to be traveling in October 😂

It is not easy finding a job Jackie, I am lucky. I hope hubby finds soon.

The company is helping to find temporary accommodation for me, I was sent some options to pick from so they are working on that.

I hope the salary is worth it against the high cost of living there. I am hopeful it will.

Enjoy your Friday evening.

It was, thanks a lot.
Yes… I forgot about that… the day I arrived I got all wet from the rain and had to walk through it for 16 minutes. Could be that. Or the coughing people in the planes or bus 🚌 never will we know.
I got some cough syrup that is easing my cough already. Let’s see… if Monday not better I go and check it out. My nose is running too. Sounds like a common cold 🤧🤒

That’s pretty cool… and both to the other side of the world. I go left 🌎and you go right 🌏

Thank you, let’s hope 🤞🏻🍀 it seems so much harder the last year or so.

Oh that’s wonderful they help with accommodation to start with.
Good, keep hopeful Joe

Thank you, you do the same, have a nice evening 👋🏻😊

Wonderful graffiti bro, am loving all the vibrant colours and glad to learn that Benin produces a lot of cotton. That woman looks busy and focused. Am happy to hear about your New Zealand trip, definitely share with us as much as possible about that country. We don't get a lot of news from there, what I know is that you will be hours ahead of us.
Thank you for sharing and do keep enjoying your week :}

Yes, I am learning this about Benin to0 as a cotton producer, either small or big each country has its resources in Africa that need to be properly managed.
The painting is wonderfully beautiful, this one is another one of my favorites, and I couldn't wait to share it.
Thank you, I will share as much as I can about NZ.
Have a great midweek bro.

Face of concentration, yet years of experience in the hands, weaving cotton really is a brilliant piece of this mural.

The facial expression stands out for me in this painting, the artist produced a captivating art that is very relatable.

Very expressive and the only country in Africa where I have seen cotton hand weaving was in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe/Zambia) when young.

Wool was seen quite often the woman are magicians with their hands!

!LUV to Benin enjoy the warmth!

I wonder how cotton production is currently in Zimbabwe, I hope it has not become history.

Lol, I wish to see them do that.

I am honestly going to miss Benin but I will be back, it is my first home now whether I nationalize or not.

White farmers some politicians are now begging them to come back, African's who migrated south have returned to farm. Not sure what they growing a couple being very successful going home to start again where their parents left off.

It looks an extremely friendly place, learn the language, fit in with the people one never knows what tomorrow may bring.

I heard about that too, a Zim friend told me the same, I hope Zimbabwe can get back to better days again.

Friendly, clean, calm, and peaceful sums up Benin for me.

Zim's last vote was another hoax, exactly the same to come here next year!

Benin is a small country, hopefully will stay the way it is.
