Walk Of Life

When you can walk, you can dance; Now you can talk, you can to sing.

Here comes Johnny and he'll tell you the story
Hand me down my walkin' shoes
Here comes Johnny with the power and the glory
Backbeat the talkin' blues
He got the action, he got the motion
Yeah, the boy can play
Dedication, devotion
Turning all the night time into the day Dire Straits 1985

The way it felt, once upon a time, here we are with less time to think about what the next move will be. No worry, no hurry I normally take some time getting a list up and running, what might be right or wrong. What I do know is I am tired of coastal living, born inland find myself thinking long and hard.

Many curve balls thrown at us, we are a minority here, scarce security, safe smaller town perhaps away from the city, may be an option. An open offer has been made to move family across the sea, I don't see myself as a refugee, must think of sons who would not consider option without me. For young families this may be an answer, age of never ending turmoil around our space, we sure have become lopsided of late.

Mind games continue, swirling around a couple of years now, we have stunning beaches either polluted and dangerous to go walking on. Lovely parks to meander through, currently side stepping cow dung is no longer fun! Travel further afield not an option, leave the home empty for extended time, someone will treat as self-service, poverty or drug addict invasion of coastal towns.

Added another trip around the sun in January, still anticipate many more to come, never give up, never give in this crazy time will pass, decision will be made, for now be patient, mulling over pro's and con's, then you see me then you don't, 'bad penny always turns up' that is life, not so?

I love that proverb Joan! It's becoming more and more difficult making a decision on where to go if one sells! I can understand your dilemma with the kids not wanting to leave you behind, and the difficulty of uprooting yourself to a new country so late in life.
What to do?
Not easy at all!
But on the other hand, many young people who had emigrated, are coming back. The weather, the people, and missing friends and family as well as the country, despite all our issues!

Travel overseas never made me feel like leaving permanently. Africa runs in the veins, such a pity it has come to this. Not always greener on the other side, will weigh up carefully.

Either way I have a load ahead to sort through, not much happens during hot months, devoid of all motivation. All my family are here with deep rooted history I have traced back and would enjoy finding out more.

I am a coastal person and don't like not being near the sea! Happy birthday Joan and here is to many more!

Beautiful photos. What’s the name of that little bird over there?

Deciding is never that simple... that’s why it should be done when the tide goes out.

Pin-tailed Whydah (Vidua macroura), he will lose his attitude and long tail after mating season.

Will make a decision when time is right, thanks for visiting and have a great day.

I wouldn't recommend moving back to Joburg either. Perhaps a move to Western Cape or North Cape?

Have looked into a couple of interesting towns, Free State and Northern Cape it would all depend on work availability, internet connection and security.

I really liked the photo of the greenish fly on the red flower, it turned out beautiful. And of course, the pretty bird on the car mirror. Is that an Estrildidae finch?

A the fly we don't really enjoy....

Green bottle flies (Lucilia sericata), common in South Africa, are metallic, 8-10mm flies attracted to rotting meat, feces, and waste. They are major agricultural pests causing "flystrike" in sheep and are active in warm, moist climates. These insects reproduce quickly, with larvae feeding on organic matter.

"Cheeky" has taken over the garden once again during mating season, of late rear view mirror has become his spot, attack mirror, poop on it then attack all reflections from windows. Pin-tailed Whydah Vidua macroura
