Vote Day Is Like D-Day For Change

Voting In South Africa

Some regions will queue a long time, arriving early waiting a couple of hours to place their mark, then get marked. All in good faith, hope of for a brighter future for all.

Sharing some photos of place we have attended over the last forty years, a Junior Primary School is used that brings along many fond memories of when the children attended between Grade 1 and Standard 1, (modern Class 1 to 3), we always take a look around to see any changes.

Schools started here on the South Coast in Warner Beach 1909 from humble beginning, Junior and Senior schools both in excellent condition of which many still proud of having attended.

Village has always been proud of the accomplishments attained at both, sound education prior entering high schools in Amanzimtoti or further afield.

Nestled above the freeway to Durban with sports fields, swimming pool my children had many hours of enjoyment when attending, both are good swimmers.

On our eventual return home after shopping and more running around, walked Woody in the garden to find another super surprise. An inherited orchid from a beautiful neighbour ironically another Joan has decided to bloom, place in this tree in 2007 my first ever flower!

More about this in a future post, for now it made my feel joy after seeing so many friends in the village after many years 'appear as if out of the woodwork', this tells me everyone is very serious about this round of voting!

Thanks for visiting Wednesday Walk, trust everyone is well looking to a future with hope!

It's amazing to see the dedication people have on vote day. Looking back at old school memories brings such nostalgia. Plus, those unexpected orchid blooms are pure joy. It's really all about hope for a better future dear friend

Hoping for a brighter future as well, friend. And I love the flower. Can't wait to see how it is when it's fully in bloom.🥰

Hello lady @joanstewart, it must have been nice to meet colleagues you haven't seen in a long time. Your photographs are prices, flowers, and school spaces

School has been well maintained, these are government schools, not private education, it really is up to the people to keep it that way.

Ah the joys of outdoor swimming pools rather than the dingy indoor ones when I was at school 🤣

Schools played a large roll in teaching children ability to swim, something most enjoyed. Massive inter-school gala days, sports days on the fields, also offered excellent education with dedicated teachers.

Condition of school reflects still running similar to what I remember, very well run!

What a gorgeous orchid! I have one that is 6-7 years old that has never bloomed. You give me hope.
I hope the election goes the way you hope it will!

Can only hope for more balanced approach within our country.

Much like the orchid it takes time to change a country, this plant was given to me in May 2014 (went back on photos) - 10 years to settle for a plant, 30 years start of change for the country.

I had a moment of sadness, the first time I've ever voted without Arthur.
Bonginkosi is registered here so we walked to the school my children went to. it's now a school for children with special needs. We were in and out, they were very efficient.
At least looks like the ruling party does not have the majority vote!
Forgot to say your Orchid looks stunning! They have a way of surprising one with a sudden appearance.

These events tend to bring memories back, Mom passed June 1993, Dad voted, purchased memorabilia for our children, (I only handed over a couple of weeks ago). Dad passed June 1994, he was proud of the change.

Our polling station same school over the years, was well organized with friendly youth manning the station. Hopefully real change will be realized going forward.

Orchid blooming on our return felt like a message from my neighbour saying everything is going to be alright, strange experience we were pretty close through good and bad times.

Awe that is so special Joan!
I was reading something from The Daily Maverick, and it seems like there's a high possibility of the ANC, DA & IFP forming an alliance on the provincial level in KZN, which apparently will ensure stable governance. let's hope that if that is the case, that the MK do not retaliate by instigating their supporters to riot.
So, that feeling you got when seeing the Orchid, may very well be a comforting message <3

Our region is always a tinderbox one never knows what could happen, MK made last minute appearance so many unanswered questions, hopefully the alliance you mention do come to pass.

We watched them while locked up in our house in 1993 chasing people out of the province with panga and knobkerrie enough to put the wind up you, long before the riots... I hope the orchid brought a positive message with the feeling too... Stay safe!

Some good, some bad always something in here. Zuma with his MK last minute party turning tricks as usual, KZN? Cannot deny he is a strategist for Socialism.
