Spring Is In The Air

What a pleasure to join in with my Feathered Friends once again, seasonal change this topic so close to the heart of many!

Most sightings found in the garden, peeping Tom that I am who watches closely at who is charging around again this season.

IMG_0776.JPG

Weavers on the trumpet flower tree, many birds enjoy the nectar as well as nibbling on the petals.

IMG_0408.JPG

Happiness is sharing space together, weavers taking a break from daily activities where they are extremely busy building in preparation.

IMG_0887-Mossie.JPG

Mossie or Sparrow settling down together feeding, soon rushing around to feed little ones, daily seed keeps them happy in the home surroundings.

IMG_3884.JPG

Brown-hooded kingfisher sharing the branch, it must be love in the air!

IMG_4399.JPG

Indian Mynah birds, totally noisy affair bickering about most things except when it comes to nesting time.

IMG_3991.JPG

Hey Lady I'm talking to you, do you love me, asked the Cape turtle dove.

IMG_3700.JPG

Bulbuls keeping each other company on high, perhaps looking around for best nesting tree in the vicinity?

IMG_0627.JPG

Early morning alarm clock planning to add to our woes, soon more will appear to serenade one out of bed!

Out the garden up in the Drakensberg.....

IMG_1710.JPG

Muisvoel or Speckled Mousebirds two in the tree is better than one in the hand I think these birds are gorgeous, fast in flight never sitting for long periods of time in one place.

IMG_1734.JPG

Harry and Sally @papilloncharity always has hanging around, here they are once again in another territory! High up in the Drakensberg making themselves very much at home in this region.

go the first I know him quite well is Ploceus cucullatus a very invasive African by the way! with red iria it is male, there is something interesting in this species, it makes false nests to mislead predators, amazing photos

We have 16 varieties of Weaver Birds South Africa a couple listed on this link.

You are possibly right with identification although I put this as Southern Masked Weaver, not invasive here in it's natural habitat, we are no where near grain fields, possibly do short migratory flights inland taking from fields. We get the Village Weaver with red eye as well, sometimes a few varieties arrive making it more difficult to tell apart.

Quelea quelea (weaver bird) a much smaller bird wipes out vast fields of grain, this one I have witnessed swarming through in great numbers when in farming district inland from where we live. Never seen them on our coastline.

Have you ever witnessed a tree so full of these birds? One experience in Pietermaritzburg years ago before Comradres Marathon there were thousands kicking up a cacophony of noise, arrogant feisty birds are they....

Goose is becoming a fast invasive by the look of what I am seeing throughout the country, we never saw them in numbers like this 25 years ago.

Have an awesome evening, black outs, water shortages, keep smiling!

No I haven't would be a nice scene I suppose, I enjoy sound of birds in the mornings though.

Probably your sister is affected as well, we have been in blackout for over 12 hours now, this time due to vandalism not load shedding.
Am retiring to bed now to save my battery for tomorrow.

Good night and thanks for the beer.

People are tired..., false promises, big lies, fat cat salaries being dished out to a handful of clowns.

Sabotage/vandalism was treason at one time, sjambok/litupa/whip should be brought back, punishment is never dealt out in courts of law of late.

What a beauty and the most beautiful thing is the way they walk as a couple definitely, love is always present, to have such beautiful feathered birds like this close is good luck, because I feel that they bring messages, and facilitate the creation of good wishes to us humans ... @joanstewart

Gratitude for letting me open my soul and carry my thoughts and desires in each flutter of these beautiful feathers, they remind me that all will be well. 💜

Some do chase each other, entertaining when they settle to build the next season together. Variety of birds pairing off one quickly recognizes older from young males when building nests. In a week or two will be flying up and down looking for food to feed their young. Life is seasonal!

!LUV Thanks for visiting.

It is so totally agreed, besides season, you have to tell life "Life as you come I love you", really in us human beings it happens every day in our awakening.

Enjoy watching such sublime moments of the gentle behavior of these birds to make their home where their hearts are to wait for their offspring.🕊

What a beautiful array of different birds. You are so lucky to have them all so close to you. I love the summer out and about with the birds chatting all along. But like you said, the indian mynas is so loud! Noise makers.

Birds coming and going all day long, total treat. Indian mynas are chased by the Starlings so fortunately we don't have them roosting in the trees close to the home.

That is good! In the Cape where I live, we never really had common starlings, but they have found my fig tree. Since then, I have seen more and more of them. The Cape Starling is there though, but they have never really visited my garden, strange.

Birds will come with fig tree, should attract far more than the Cape Starling, saw the first Common Starling during last year which caught me by surprise.

The cape white eye and mousebirds love love love the fig tree. I normally leave the top fruits for them. They go through so many figs in a couple of days! It is something to witness.

Both birds mentioned are so shy here one battles to capture many if any photographs of them, now you can do content about gobbling up fruit on tree top !LOLZ

That is the idea! haha.

Yes, they are the shyest of them all. I want to add on the list the Jan Frederik and olive thrush as well. They evaded my camera for many many years.

Have fun, perhaps a deck chair, just wait it out, they will come....

I have wondered many times if I should not make my office (or workspace) outside under one of the trees with my camera ready at hand!

Try an outdoor space and see how it works, always a case the minute you see them they get shy and fly away, who knows....

Sometimes they stay oblivious. One early morning I hid underneath the fig tree and got some pretty awesome shots of the mousebird feeding on some ripe figs! But my foot slipped and they immediately flew away.

(Edited)

Sure they tease knowing we lay in waiting, purple-crested lourie here flies between trees the minute they see you, grey lourie or muisvoel similar shy characteristics, very seldom see them they just blend in.

Best capture I managed in 2017....

Mine is similar to yours. Only the head sticking out. They are for sure teasing us, I just know it. And then I am sure they know when you do not have your camera with you as well, because sometimes they just sit and watch me then when I am working in the garden with dirty hands, unable to get my camera. Stunning capture, nonetheless!

Always the case when you busy in the garden they will come close enough, lift a camera and they're off....

It is surely a frustration but a very funny one right! They for sure know. But sometimes just sometimes you are lucky to get a good snap!
