Super Blue Moon

Once In A Blue Moon

Super Blue Moon more rare than the Blue Moon what fun we have tonight, a full moon twice in one month.

22nd August, 2023 - 17h37

Tonight is the night to capture a glimpse, to be honest I have been watching slowly over the past couple of weeks to here is a glimpse of what I enjoyed during month of August.

IMG_4810.JPG

25th August, 2023 - 17h36

Blue moons occurs every two to three years, super blue moon more rare with around twenty year intervals making the moon appear approximately 7% larger.

IMG_4812.JPG

26th August, 2023 - 01h10

This occasion gives rise to the special company in Saturn moving in tandem across the sky, closer to earth than normal.

IMG_4851.JPG

28th August, 2023 - 17h37

This triggers extreme low and high tides along coastlines something to remember when being at the sea.

29th August, 2023 - 17h56

IMG_4876.JPG

29th August, 2023 - 17h57

The big event last night and again tonight, very fortunate clear skies without a cloud in sight!

IMG_4886.JPG

30th August, 2023 - 19h08

English idiom hence refers to "Once in a Blue Moon" for good reason it seldom happens, from Elizabethan times.

30th August, 2023 - Zoom In 19h09

"Blue Moon" a classic song written Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart in 1934, sung by many artists became an absolute hit on charts at number one in 1961 covered by The Marcles. Source - YouTube!

I will be out dancing in the moonlight once again tonight, who knows I may never see another! Be sure to join in wherever you live in the world, look up drawing on the power of Mother Nature.

Hola friend, how nice that you were able to enjoy the blue moon, here in Venezuela they have talked a lot about it. I don't know if the light pollution makes that we can't see the magnitude of the beauty you are supposed to see.

With regular power outages here one advantage is eliminating light pollution.

We are fortunate being able to see the moon rise, not over the ocean but close enough, setting is never a problem, walk the dog regularly day and night.

Managed more through to 01h00 this morning, woke up to totally clouded sky, always dependent on how Mother Nature will play on the day.

Appreciate your visit and token.

Awesome pics... and for this blue moon, it comes with one of the big tides here (close to 10 meter - "normal" is around 7). The sea is going to take landfall.

Sea sounded big last night, where we live crashing waves echo up the valley, moons massive power most definitely telling after an event like this.

Damn good captures there!
No light pollution?

Not much haze from humidity as in Summer.

Lights off with constant blackouts (power outages).

Street lights don't work either, criminals have cut them all to plan robberies.

Always on guard and vigilant, had some 'shoppers' in our garden last night around 03h30, 'free' shopping spree around vehicles. Killed in it's tracks when my son woke and called our local private security. Did you know private security companies out number our police force by 4:1....

Wow! And I bet the cops are corrupt too, shame thst you have to resort to private security, but I would do likewise if needed

Great, you have been lucky to get cool and clear images of the Super Moon. We have only seen rain clouds here, but there will be another full moon ... one day in future 😀

Weather was ideal for us to watch the moon over the last couple of weeks, almost as if to say you had your turn it clouded over completely yesterday.

It would have been ideal for us in the last couple of days with almost no clouds, but it doesn't look any good when the moon isn't full.
I don't mind though because we're having a great time here 🏖️

Last night's sunset ...

Have a great week Joan 🌞

The moon was awesome here too, Joan. There were a couple hurricanes stirring in the Atlantic. Luckily they missed us but one called Idalia made landfall in Florida, U.S. and left an terrible destruction. This hurricane came when super moon was closest to the earth and with the moon's gravitational pulls the tides are even higher. This affects and makes the storm surge worse than normal. Otherwise beautiful moon to view.

Did read about Idalia, seaboard would have larger affect by tides especially being happening during a hurricane. Our Western shores also encountering some extreme weather conditions, here on the East coast it was clear for a change.

Hunt down the moon whenever it is up above, this was a special event although I could not capture Saturn as well, it was there.

Interesting that you had the moon photographed for days in a series. I find it amazing how the size of the moon affects tides.

I was at the beach this week and I had a selfie with the moon, I will share one of these days. Interestingly you were also having a good time capturing moments of the moon.

Moon played such a large part of growing up, grand parents believed you cut hair at certain times, my father planted seeds on a growing moon to be in the ground by full moon for better crop, not sure if there is any truth to it, I still do it.

Every full moon here in Warner Beach many get together to do a beach walk, dogs are welcome too. The walk on full moon evening watching the moon rise over the sea.

!LUV have fun enjoying the beach on warmer evenings.

Same with my parents they had this belief of looking out for the moon when it is out smaller than a quarter size, the call it new moon and it was time to pray for a better new month, I reluctantly participated then. 😃

Sounds like a nice walk to have on the beach to watch the moon rise over the ocean.

Most probably some truth in old beliefs, beach walk always advertised in local newspaper, folk arrive and enjoy the walk in a group making it safer.

I would participate in the walk if I was there, I like things like that 😃

Something that has been happening for years here, most enjoyable although I have not been myself in a long time.

That is good, the community or the organizers should keep at it.
We get those periods when we are not ourselves, at times we snap out of it quicker, sometimes a bit longer.

Started with mainly a woman wishing to walk her dog, invited the community to join in for safety sake, so the ball started rolling about twenty years ago.
