Sparrow And Woodpecker Call

House Sparrow A Community

When the days is hot with not a breath of wind this little Female House Sparrow sat quietly in a shaded tree watching me.

The race P. d. indicus of the House Sparrow was introduced from India to coastal KwaZulu-Natal in the late 19th century, now found almost everywhere in the country, they do not live in the extremely dry regions.

A symbol of joy, community, teamwork, protection, simplicity, hard work or self-worth this little sparrow appeared to enjoy a short encounter with someone she lives close to, found in our gardens all year round. One hears their low calls while moving around the home.

Medium Sized Woodpecker Nipped In For Visit

Our medium-sized woodpecker with a streaky breast and throat visited, Golden-tailed Woodpecker (Campethera abingoni) enjoying shaded area in Duranta erecta shrub.

Must have some tasty morsels close to the main bark where it appeared focused on, hopping up keeping within the shade another bird carrying on his daily chores avoiding the heat.

The nasal shrieking 'wheeaa-aaaa' call, led me to it's presence.

Wishing all feathered friends a wonderful week!

Birds are in the garden at all times of the day, I think they are accustomed to me roaming around at different times walking the dog.

Love to come into the home sometimes, occasionally I wonder if the one I hand reared many years ago, if it's her linage that stay so close.

No doubt about it—birds add so much color and life to any environment. Sparrows bring that charming simplicity, and woodpeckers with their fascinating drumming and vivid colors truly stand out. Being able to capture their beauty in photographs is amazing, @joanstewart !

Telltale signs with woodpeckers, I find the species take on similar stature, a bird we don't see often.
