Mallard ducks although I have never seen them in real life, did have table mats with them being so colourful. How fortunate you are to have them swimming around entertaining you when out on your walks.

Hi Joan. I have read that they have been introduced in South America from Europe, they are very adaptable, maybe in South Africa they are also adaptable. It is strange that they are not yet common there.
I hope you get to see them soon, they are very cute.

We have some pretty ducks on the water here, never heard of Mallard's being introduced into the country.
