The invention of the troll doll

Born in 1915 in the small village of Gjøel, Denmark, Thomas Dam was an artistic child.

The son of an impoverished fisherman, he spent his youth whittling wood and, like most kids in town, telling tall tales about evil trolls that were said to lurk in the mountains.

Although the toys are old they will never be thrown away, loved over the years for the simplicity in which they framed the minds growing up. All plastic must be taken care of and never enter landfills, rivers sweeping down to the sea.

Haha not a thought yet.... I am sure we collected these when Dad got petrol tank filled, it was about the year I became a teenager he got his first car, so the Smurfs are treasured from my childhood. Other toys were ones I bought the boys growing up, troll outfit used to be silver it has fallen off!

!PIZZA something I never tasted before I was around 25 !LOLZ

True, I find this inspiring though I have been thinking time is against me in my early 40s without starting my family yet, something I always want is a family.

I had so many of those Smurfs. I wonder what happened to them? I have no idea where they are now, I lost track of them a loooooong time ago. 😑

These three smurfs have been on my desk wherever I worked, my little blue companions. Fishing rod went missing, now I invested in a toothpick and dental floss a couple of years ago to give him something to hang on to.

Not only do these plastic toys remind us of our younger years, but if you are fortunate to still have them, some of them are worth a small fortune now.

Mine have stood on my desk smiling at me over the years, a tad worn without original boxes, simply sweet memories... I suppose everything has a price !LOLZ

It's funny how the box the toy came in is as important to collectors as the toy itself.
Thanks for the LOLZ

The smurfs are cute, Joan. I have one with wild red hair sort of like the last photo. My nephew gave it to me years ago. I guess he thought it matched my hair then. Lol

Plastic is a scourge in our part of the world, cannot believe people have no love of the land they live in.

Unfortunately is the same over here, and in some ways even worse, as we ship a load of our waste we don't want to other countries to be their problem.

Thanks and you have a magical Sunday too
