Ominous Skies

March Shoulder Month With Venus, Jupiter, Dropwings And Skippers

Skies during daylight hours driving hot sunbeams beating the earth once again, afternoon to evening covered with cloud, little to no rainfall at the moment.

IMG_3139.JPG

We dodged Cyclone Freddy, East to West back East, spinning axis took it back to Madagascar where those poor folk are now having a second round with the same storm.

IMG_3144.JPG

Cloud formation looks promising, as evening approached it dissipated giving a wonderful view of Venus and Jupiter showing up, Waxing Gibbous was a little more toward the East not able to get all in neatly together to see them in the almost Blue Moment. Look between the branches of tree)

IMG_3137.JPG

Talking about Blue next up @papilloncharity will have to clarify for me, Navy Dropwing - (Trithemis furva) dancing in between the plants with what looked to be a Skipper (Pelopidas sp. (Hesperiinae)) chasing continuously.

IMG_3124.JPG

Close up: Perhaps in the heat of the moment they did not keep very good company, interesting to watch all the same.

IMG_3122.JPG

Skipper waiting to chase... BTW Zac was right in saying these guys come land in the same spot more often than not.

IMG_3123.JPG

It was the Skipper chasing the Dragonfly which was puzzling!

Another most unusual show recently, spider web along river rock wall, now who builds a nest like this I have no idea.

IMG_3147.JPG

Exquisite in design, perhaps enjoys a little bird seed, ants would venture through possibly, how knows I think it just looks cool!

IMG_3148.JPG

Gadding around watching life happen is my favourite times of the day, being outdoors, not enjoying the heat of the sun, outdoors with sublime crazy happenings around every corner.

Wishing you a wonderful day, remember to look up it's almost full moon once again, shoulder month starting to move toward shorter days, hopefully cooler soon down in the South.

Glad to hear you dodged Cyclone Freddy, looking scary from news...
Gadding around watching life happen is indeed very fun. Nice captures of all those textures and activities in nature!

We were most fortunate, heavy flooding up North recently, don't think they could take any more. I feel very sorry for Madagascar taking the hit twice by same cyclone.

Have a wonderful Sunday, thanks for visiting and kind comments.

Although it's sad that the poor people in Madagascar have to deal with the storm again, I am glad that Freddy has left you.

Awesome photo, but I wouldn't have thought these are planets - I obviously have no idea about these things, so I am glad to have learned something new 😁

Zac will certainly tell you more about these two guys and who is chasing whom 😉

I love spiders and spider webs and often I watch spiders building their webs in front of the security cameras in our company. Of course, I have seen spider webs on the ground, but I can't remember to have seen one close to water. Maybe Zac can help you here too.

Still dry in some parts of the country, glad to see rains approaching from the Cape in the next day or two, our 'normal' side for the weather. Most times when it comes off the East - Indian Ocean it resulted in flooding.

This dragonfly was very bright blue, one could almost say turquoise being chased by mischievous Skipper, something between a moth, butterfly and grass-hopper only way I can describe him.....

Spider nest is unusual being attached to a wall, cannot see through web to what type of spider it is either.

!LUV the creepy crawlies plus other life, always interesting.

Just nice rain, no floodings nor damages from storms, that's what I wish for you.

We have Damselflies here which are this kind of blue, but this is no Damselfly. The Skipper might have gron up between Robber Flies and maybe he believes he is one himself 😂 !LOLZ

I would put a fly on the web and wait for a short while - maybe the spider comes out to catch the fly 😉

Light rain always appreciated, another hot humid start to the week.

Beautiful colour, wish I knew them on sight as we have numerous dragon flies passing through at the moment, all sizes and colours!

Flies are too busy making a nuisance of everything else except land on this web. I think the web is to capture ants or something beneath somehow.

We have had an overcast day but I didn't mind because I wouldn't have had any time to look outside anyway 😅 !LOLZ

I remember often been searching for quite some time to find the name of an insect, and sometimes it was just impossible 😁

I think you're right - it's not meant to catch insects in flight.

The more work the faster the time flies - there's always a positive side 😉

Overcast here as well, no rain making it more pleasant without the sun..

Dragonfly species there are so many, along with other insects it is impossible to know them all.

Work never goes away, even when not going into an office one finds the day filled with much to do.

Keep busy !LOLZ with a !PIZZA lunch.

The weatherman says that on Thursday or Friday we might see the sun again - we'll see. It's cold during the night, but quite warm during the day.

That's true, but when I retire in a couple of years I want to keep the work or computer times as short as possible.

Weatherman gets it wrong more often than not, we never got rain, now windy and hot again. Perhaps the weekend will rain, appears more often of late over weekends.

We do what we are able with the finance we have, world powers crippling many with crazy exploits they pushing. Yes try to be outdoors as often as possible, would love to be on the road going nowhere slowly!

Hopefully your weatherman is right and some rain is bringing cool and fresh air to you 🌧️

I want to put all paperwork and such online, so that I don't need to be at home to do certain tasks. I want to spend more time somewhere in nature than at home ... hopefully my wife things the same, but the first two years I'll be alone because my wife has to work longer than me 😉

Hope is all we can do, in more ways than one!

Placing all your documents online is a great idea as long as connection to internet is always available, also very time consuming uploading all....

Sure your wife will enjoy a couple of trips out, sometimes may prefer to stay in the comfort of the home, wait and see is best policy!

Yep, power and an internet connection is needed too, of course. I already have most of my important papers and other documents online, but I need to improve it all so that my family will find the things too, just in case I can't 😁 !LOLZ

We have never been camping together, but we have spent many holidays at the sea in one-room straw huts. She liked that kind of camping, but we have got older ... I think I'll enjoy the time alone and when she joins me we'll decide together 😀

We camped in tents for many years, eventually sold the tents off to younger families to enjoy.

So many small places to enjoy and support in remote places now with BnB or Rondawel accommodation.

Planning to do extremely remote, one would require a 4x4 with tent on top, crossing into bordering countries.

We slept in a tent only once because our trip to the vacation destination was too long.

Mayn people here have bought roof tents for their cars / SUV's or even for small vans like mine, but I prefer to sleep inside. A 4x4 would be great to have, of course, especially in winter in the mountains. For driving in the wilderness in Africa it would be even more important, I can imagine.

Private 4x4 purchase would mean planned long distance travel, too expensive to maintain, most now post video adventures to recoup part of expense.

Roof top accommodation is for the younger generation, inflating/deflating tyre pressure another art one would need to learn, along with gear ratio which is completely different to normal stick drive.

These are the reasons why I never have had a 4x4.

Being 35 again would be awesome, but then I would have to wait 23 years longer for my retirement 😭 !LOLZ

My weekend has been busy and I have taken a few photos too 😁
Hope your weekend was great and the new week started well for you 🌞

If it's still too hot just imagine being on top of this mountain...

Hello dear friend @joanstewart good afternoon
Apparently the problem with the weather is happening in a large part of the world, in this area the heat is oppressive.
What good news that the cyclone did not pass through there, I am sorry for the people who had to endure it
Beautiful shots, I appreciate you letting us know
Have a happy start to the week

Spider web for sure, don't know what it looks like unfortunately. Very fine web weaving across a reasonable space attached to river rock wall.

Think the humidity hits the brain of everything lately, never seen this odd behaviour.

Had a bush snake stalking a skink both too sluggish to do much, they parted ways one to the left of me, one to the right, I stood there laughing thinking the heat is getting to everything!

Cyclone Freddy is still bouncing around in the Mozambique channel, longest active cyclone record apparently!

Have a great Thursday as well, dinner time here....
