Nature For My Soul

Give Week 51 Day After Summer Solstice

Walk through the year a random wandering that keeps my mind active, body moving, words will flow as randomly we go thanks for visiting, in case I forget after ramblings....

January started with our normal start of a New Year walk on the beach, we have found this to be most pleasant with most sleepy heads in bed after partying the night through. Everyone had congregated along the shoreline to welcome the year in, who knew what was to come. Live and let live!

IMG_5121.JPG

Month of February the garden appeared with many butterflies, light on wing enjoying the warm month they were busy, we do tend to have different butterflies arrive throughout the year being a warm climate.

IMG_6142.JPG

March fungi collecting some additional growth along the branch of my established curry tree lovely air plant hangs around this too attracts different insects between the two living plants.

IMG_2054_.JPG

April a month to remember for a long time having visited the beach just prior to the floods, never realizing this would be the last visit for some time to come. Within the garden the monkeys were monkeying around, look mom no hands, they have fantastic balance even on thin telephone lines.

IMG_2054--.JPG

Succulent flowers spread across the banks wherever one looked in dazzling purple display, another plant that may flower more than once or twice a year, May appeared more abundant capturing the eye with their fresh look.

IMG_7141.JPG

Peeping into June, during a forest walk (we were away from home) we watched spellbound as an inquisitive squirrel come down from high in the tree tops ending up close enough to get some lovely photographs.

IMG_2054----.JPG

Throughout July my regular visitor was a family of kingfisher birds, calling from a variety of spots, they are never far all year round which makes them regulars to the garden.

IMG_9183.JPG

August evening skies another delight are sunsets we have many that capture ones eye taking you outdoors to stand enjoying the last warmth of the day. Sticking to photography not used previously and by the month I hope you enjoying this so far.

IMG_9387.JPG

September a jumping spider decided I was friendly enough to hitch a ride, when these little guys jump it's best to let them have their own way they move along quite quickly I must say.... One handed photography, not too bad?

IMG_2332.JPG

October we headed to the mountains to celebrate my brothers 70th, great time away once again. One thing I know I could never decide which is my favourite the mountains or bush both offer completely different vistas.

IMG_2053-FW.JPG

Not having the airport located as close as in earlier years we seldom see or hear air traffic, November late afternoon walk this flight must be heading for Cape Town. Lovely sight with the sun going down and chem trails clearly visible. Flying into the sun!

IMG_2331.JPG

Here we are in week 51, a few days to go to Christmas! A time to thank everyone for the friendship shared, constant engagement, support. Wishing you a wonderful Festive Season with my Christmas flower that only shows up for approximately a week before and a week after.

IMG_2438.JPG

Going through random photographs, quotes, odds and ends yesterday, no electricity with time on my hands I came across a poem/saying neatly presented to me by my Mother with ? at the end which is in her hand!

I do not know where this originated, it rings true at this time of the year when many enjoy the festive season, how many don't?

I wished I could remember as much as you do about what has happened during this year, but without looking through my photos I would only remember a few things.
Of all the lovely memories I love the jumping spider most because I have never seen one in nature myself 😀

These are the memories that stick me together to carry on, jumping spiders normally don't sit long enough for photos, my lucky charm 🙃.

A year that tested our family and extended family in every which way especially the young men folk, so far they all recovered after some serious operations. Felt as if next generation of men were on conveyor belt to hospitals within a couple of months.

Thanks for the visit, hope the snow did not get too deep in your region I see some really battling across the North.

I do hope the next year will be better for you and for your family, especially the young men. Hopefully the conveyor belt stops and goes into the other direction. At the moment nobody from my family is in a hospital, but there were times in the past when it was different.

It has rained here during the night - no fresh snow in sight, but some places are still white and that's better than nothing, and when we visit our families there will be enough snow to make it a white Christmas 😀

Appears to come in waves when one is least expecting it, good when families are all in good health and cheer.

Looks like we will be having a wet Christmas, fine by me we will only be the five of us for traditional dinner, Monday have extended family come around for cold meats and salads by Tuesday I will have a long sigh of relief after all the preparation.

Trust your parents are still keeping well, enjoy the family visits as you go around seeing all. Enjoy your white Christmas 🎄

Today will be a lot of family quarrels, domestic violence and other problems under the influence of alcohol. It's strange that such happens on the most peaceful day.

There will be more posts soon, of course 😉 !LOLZ and today I have some time to look through my photos because although the colleagues on the streets are quite busy, my job will hopefully keep easy through the night.

Today most go to church, then as you say, go home later and in many homes all hell breaks out, safer to keep off the roads and away from popular places.

Start cooking a marathon even from now to 2 pm when only my sons and daughter in law will join us, much easier to have direct little family to sit and chat quietly, normally outdoors this year will be inside with windy conditions.

It's every year the same - it was the same at home when I was young ... well, not that bad, but my youth has made me to a little Grinch. Last year I got a Grinch Hoodie and this year my daughter bought me a Grinch mug 🤣 !LOLZ

The 4 of us will have a nice lunch today - steak 😋 My daughter is vegetarian but she wants to try a steak once again after years eating vegetables and such. Before she stopped eating meat she loved her steak as bloody as possible 😁
In the afternoon we'll leave to my wife's family at her sister's house where we'll have a good time as every year.

Enjoy the day with your family, Joan ☺️

Cannot think of ever giving up my steak, good to hear your daughter is rethinking. My niece tried for about six months then returned to normal too....

Christmas day my family, next day sister in law and her daughter (not my brothers children), Thursday we will go to visit my other brother and his family, so yes it carries on into the week between Christmas and New Year.

Earlier years I had Christmas dinner for up to sixteen, now most enjoy time with their own families and meet in smaller more manageable sized groups.!LOLZ ("die ouderdom, doktor...." Lose translation, we all getting older, doctor.)

Oh yes, she has eaten her steak and also a small secone one, but she complained that it was only medium and not rare 🤣 !LOLZ next time I'll take it earlier out of the pan.

Christmas is family time and we always meet with the whole family of my wife at her sister's home where we are 14 people - so only one visit is needed there. And we'll visit my parents usually a few days after Christmas but because we are working this week, we'll do it next week / year.

At least she knows how to enjoy a good steak, some eat them so cooked through it is a waste of good beef.

Enjoy the gathering that is about the size I used to have in the home, no longer now taking small bite size numbers !LOLZ

Don't work too hard, enjoy the parents while out there, always looks and sounds like a magical place to be.

My wife used to eat the steak cooked through, but during the years and quite some steaks shw learned to enjoy it more on the rare side 😋

Well, it was great fun although it wasn't the best to be there anyway, because my wife and I caught the flu from our nephew's family there, and so did our daughter and my wife's sister and her husband 😅
This evening and Easter are the only times of the year when we all met together and it's always great fun just as it was this time ... until we got sick 🤣 !LOLZ

I would have preferred to work hard than to spend 5 days including today in bed 😎 we'll visit my parents at another weekend.

Wow, I appreciate that you provided us with a summary of the year through those wonderful photographs!
As the year's end draws near, we can't help but look back on the highs and lows of the past year and ahead to the possibilities that lay ahead. Writing and sharing poems is a great way to convey your end-of-year wishes to everyone.

Every month special in one or another way, the good, bad and ugly in life today I select the good with so much going wrong of late.

Notes, ditty's, sayings, newspaper content all placed in a small hard covered book with excess photographs, both my parents enjoyed giving me sweet reminders to stay grounded. More so no when they have long gone....

From the depth of my heart I appreciate what we are doing here in Hive !LUV

As the end of the year approaches, we all look back a little.
Your hindsight really touched my soul. Thank you.

I took the liberty of including your photo from the mountains in the #aroundtheworld contest.

I wish you and your loved ones that your next look back will be stress-free for you.

Thanks for adding my photo to the #aroundtheworld appreciate what you do in building for all.

Wise words. There's no point in wasting energy on something we can't change. And we can only change ourselves.

In the Czech Republic, we celebrate Christmas a day earlier, i.e. 24.12.. So while I already have the presents unwrapped, you will have to wait until the morning of 25.12 :-)

We have dinner day earlier or on the day, depends on weather and family, presents are a thing of the past not having young children in the house.

Merry Christmas with !LUV and some !WINE at dinner time.

In our place, the festive dinner is held around five in the afternoon. And we give each other small gifts even when the children are away from home.
It's all about customs in one country or another.

No matter religion, culture, most spend time together with family or friends enjoying the seasonal sharing in a meal or going out to picnic.

Thanks for sharing how you enjoy the day, most decide on the weather over here as to how the day will be spent. !LOLZ

During this week most family and friends will try meet up over the whole week. Christmas spent with direct family then siblings and friends families throughout when able to get to each, much more meaning now we have experienced what life is like not being able to be with our loved ones.

When it doesn't "prevent" covid, nature "revolts" again. Every moment to be with family or friends should be cherished.

Nature is going to do exactly what she wants, sad reality is the next 'pandemic' is being planned already for 2025 as if enough damage has not been done already!

We don't know how much longer we have with our sons, they have to move with little to no options for work available in this country, over and above theft, murders committed daily.

These are not exactly happy prospects for the future.

We here in Europe are always complaining about something and yet we have no idea how well off we are compared to some other places in the world
