Long John Silver
Pieces of Eight - Captain Flint
"Shiver my timbers" it must be said, life is stranger than strange with everyone hollering be it East or West. Tucked up childhood Treasure Island thoughts long gone.
Bloodthirsty people going to battle in another man's land, plundering, each committed, it is theirs to be had, thought we were here just the other day!
One time we heard helicopters pass over protecting, today only during an emergency situation, well we know these happen all too often in our beautiful land. Not able to share a helicopter going over so dragonfly will have to do for now. It is prettier.
Meantime far down south winds blew through with hell and fury, ended up with part of my wall coming down. Howled so loud I never even heard when it took a tumble. Temporary fix, till permanent arrangement can be made, I'm not the only one in town with damage, some lost their roof. Thar she blows.
Garden was shredded, plenty raking to do, no visiting online keeps one away from mayhem happening around the world, let alone your region. Woody and Hadada's doing an inspection run.
Still have some beauties showing, tuckered down avoiding the onslaught between rain, wind and cold that drifted into town. Most advised to stay home, flowers appeared to have got the Memo.
After finding out some aches and pains arrived after addition physical motion, ordered in fish and chips from lovely Indian lady in town. With Sardine run, big fish now available from fishermen, plenty for all to enjoy from fillets to small fry whichever you enjoy most.
Plated dinner, not sure which catch of the day it was, simply delicious! Beach fishing frenzy, guys hooking game fish in following sardines. 2018 I wrote about Greatest Shoal Show On Earth KwaZulu-Natal South Africa
End of three days frigid weather for Durban, still cool with a gorgeous sunset to enjoy. Kwa-Zulu Natal is very busy at the moment between fish or storms no time to rest on our laurels worrying about the world at large. It would be great to enjoy our own treasure island away from the maddening crowds, most get along very well without interference by politicians and world gangs roaming around to steal and pillage our treasure, the little we have.
Song Long John Silver - Jefferson Airplane if you care for music right now.
Lyrics: Last two from song above.
He's seen a thousand countries
They're all the same
Some men are crazy, some men sane
But all men are ruled by a flag or a game
And he knows nobody's got you
If you don't, if you don't sign your name
Long John Silver serves no king
No land holds him, that's why he feels like, feels like singing
Every country now and then
Roars like Irish, drunk and singing
Every monk will now and then
Call his men to hear the wenches night bells ringing

"Winter Garden June" - It sounds very funny, like some joke. By the way, we sometimes joke like that when the summer is cold.
Your proverb reminded me of the proverb: "Don't spit in the well, you'll have to drink water from there."
We enjoy mild winters, different varieties of flowers now with Aloes and many other plants in bloom.
Proverbs tell it the way it is, we repeat our errors so regularly it really makes one question our sanity as a race.
So, we live between the storms, and humor is our mental stimuli. But it is what it is, and nobody can change it. Suffer the little children, and all mankind.
A lovely post that you have here milady.
People are tired everywhere, all pummelled mercilessly to and fro, not nice, only thing we can do is try laugh, find positive somewhere in between.
Thanks for visiting, trust you and Marian are coping one day at a time as always.
The funny thing is that my eldest daughter called from the UK to wish me for Father's Day, and we also discussed the media headlines lately. Never a good read, as it is all about violence, murder, and mayhem.
We got rid of our TV a few years ago for the same reasons, and now on the PC, I can control want to see.
Mostly charity stuff, and the sad thing is that so many children are going to bed hungry at night. At Papillon we are now concentrating on supporting existing Npo's and charities that have feeding schemes.
Such is life.
!PIZZA and !LUV
Feeding schemes ongoing here between SPCA, Churches, CROW, (pets, people and wildlife) it never stops. Everyone is scoffing at the trough in parliament, while the people lament, over charged, over taxed, actually sick and tired of them all.
Youth Day not much for them to celebrate today, hunger, no work, broken homes, broken lives turning to drugs and/or crime, another huge problem.
Keep going is all we can do, help where able, life is not what it should be ain't that a fact.
!LUV to the Cape.
!WINEX
Always great to see that there is help for the hungry at your side, and yes, a sense of helplessness to improve matters hangs in the air lately. Discontent seems to have increased tremendously.
Rather no comment on Youth Day.
Oh yeah, we run on hope every day, and you the fact that you mentioned is so true.

That wind was scary the other day. I had to go for physio, the roads were strewn with small branches!
The sunsets have been beautiful though, stunning photo Joan!
I'd love some fresh fish, that looks delicious!
Wind sure was damaging once again, trees uprooted around town.
Was so angry learning of these protesters pursuing their rotten agenda during the Comrades Marathon, time the police carried sjamboks again and deal with problems there and then.
That game fish was simply delicious, nothing beats the taste of fresh fish.

The storm damage and dragonfly switch really made me think about how unpredictable nature is
Our weather being coastal can become very wild, once it passes over all the insects and birds are back into feeding frenzy. Thanks for visiting.
Very nice photos 👍
Last week has had all four seasons, enjoy sharing what I see. Have a great day!
Ladies always close to the heart, enjoy each others good company.
Of course sometimes I forget about the upside down countries that winter is approaching, yeuch!
Our mild winters normally a joy, this cold front cut off leaned more toward North conditions with heavy snow inland, heavy winds along the coast.
Well, I hope it stays mild for you, winter yeuch!
Love the cooler weather.
Damn it sorry about your wall, that must have been to very strong wind.
Show us the helicopter please it might be prettier 😄
!PIZZA
About 50 meters went down across the road, a new wall that has taken hammering twice in a year. Helicopters of late are all private for medi-lift from accidents or private security hunting criminals down, blood and guts story of the country.
Beautiful sunset Joan and you can't go wrong with fish and chips!
Sounds like it blew a right hoolie. Glad it was just the wall that blew over and not you.
Stay safe.
Superb sunsets in winter, just very much earlier. Fish and chips a winner when fresh like this. Wind was crazy to say the least. Have a great day!
Yeah you had me craving fish and chips, so i got some 🤣
Kill the craving, good solution to problem.
Sorry about the damage from the wind.
The fish and chips look great.
If my wife say "Long John Silver", I'm sure she is referring to this one.

Your wife has the right idea, their food looks great!
Wind and weather has been wild of late, it's dealing with insurance that will prove to be a wilder ride, they are always questionable here, find loop holes not to cover what has been under insurance for 40 years.
That's the job of the insurer. They try all ways to reject claims.
Hope you get it sorted out in your favor.

What a shame you and your town had so much wind damage. Nature can certainly keep everyone on their toes with this weird pattern lately. Glad you had minimal damage. ♥
Might have to replace the entire wall, not sure what costs are entailed. Insurance always they find every loop hole to avoid paying. Thanks for visiting.
What a beautiful part of the world you live in. Thank you for sharing these gorgeous shots with us. Well done on maintaining such a beautiful winter garden! Ours is basically dead due to bad weather, horrific water price increases and that we have all just been to stressed to add garden maintenance to our list. It's sad though, so many of my beautiful plants have died... hopefully, we can resurect some of them and plant some new ones in the spring ❤️
Learned to start turning gardening indigenous many years ago, rely on what does grow with minimal water or attention. Herbs always a battle as they need some attention.
Hope you are able to get the garden going again from whatever you able to find showing second life.
Aaaah you are so right. We had a beautiful basil forest growing a few years ago, but it needed constant love and attention. I would love to start that again. Three's nothing more lovely than cooking with home grown, fresh herbs!
Have lost count with the number of herbs over the years, need them close to the kitchen to keep a watchful eye.
Well, I', terrible with plants in general. I'm more of a plant "hospice" 🤣🤣🤦♀️
@zakludick is the one with the green thumb.
Admittedly, if herbs are left inside, @zakludick has to watch me so carefully otherwise I just throw them into all my cooking!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣 So true!

🤣🤣🤣🤣 will do!
Hit and miss with coastal soil, now have to leave them in pots. Thyme bush flourished till termites dashed my hopes, mint eventually disappeared, those I know grow I might try again in garden.
It's a massive job, starting from scratch. We adopted all of my mom's plants when she immigrated to the UK, and they all promptly died. :( Gardening takes a lot of time, dedication and love.
My gardening is for the birds and insects to enjoy, most other plants simply die, indigenous or nothing at all now.
It's beautiful though, how different plants attract different critters!
I just wish that I wasn't so awful at growing/ looking after them. Some people have just got the right touch <3
We grew most anything in the Transvaal, coastal very different. 🤣
