Friend Or Foe Always Macro
Small within Smaller
No matter to the gardener weeds will grow, blowing in on strong winds setting themselves down to do what they know best, grow flower during Spring here in Southern Hemisphere keeping bees and butterflies happy.
Dandelion seed head most probably one of the most photographed weeds in the world for macro with delightful design.
Hoya (Hoya carnosa) or Wax plant being enjoyed by the ants with soft dew like nectar being enjoyed.
Wild garlic flowers in white, on the opposite side in the garden are the lilac that have yet to flower again, edible, also make a lovely display.
Fresh leaves on Yellow trumpeter flower tree also being enjoyed whilst buds are popping out,
flowers almost all but done for this season.

Everyone Loves Dandelion and I have also photographed it for this season.
You have Got Awesome pictures. !LUV it.
Always appear to have a couple Dandelion around with a variety of other smaller flowering plants referred to as weeds on the lawn.
Thanks for visiting 😇
The second one is my favorite. So vibrant and clear.
Invasion of black ants this year with recent rain, wax flowers are unique with a type of honeydew that attracts insects to the plant. Thanks for visit.
Always appreciate what you do @ackhoo trust you and the whole @qurator team are well.
In macro, life is much more complex and beautiful. You get a different appreciation. I love the wild mustard, send me some of the seeds, please lol! I love all things garlic and onion. Awesome photographs!
Noticed some gardening references mention the white flower to be wild onion, lilac wild garlic, where others refer to all as garlic, totally edible. Over the years have been surprised at how many weeds have medicinal or edible properties.
Same here. Since the herbal hive community opened on hive I have explored so many edible herbs (weeds) in my own garden. It completely changed my diet!
I had the good fortune of my little Zulu lady, and an Indian elderly gent, (work associate) teach me a lot about the local plants we thought to be weeds, they picked to eat, we pay so much for food of late, never too late to learn. Great medicinal properties in many as well! Just don't smoke that weed !LOLZ

Oh wow you are so lucky! I have tried to speak to some of the Xhosa people in my area about imfino (marog) but they all looked at me like I was crazy. You should totally share that knowledge in the herbal hive community if you have not already shared it on hive. It is truly important knowledge, in my opinion, that should be written down and shared!
Both the people I knew have since passed on, the book I had with notes is gone, I recognize some of the plants but would require researching all over again.
When I have come across trees or plants with eating/medicinal properties I shared into many places on Hive over the years.

Oh I am so sorry to hear. It is never nice to hear. Luckily you have those experiences.
Thank you also for the links and sources! Will check them out. It is really amazing how much in our backyard is edible and healthy.
Many indigenous plants are edible or medicinal, it is learning to identify. Normally the older generation remember from growing up on the land.
Roots most commonly used still found in our shops or in the fields is the Amadumbe always learning some thing new.
Thats the biggest thing: learn to identify them. It takes many years to be accustomed various plants and which ones are healthy and which ones you should avoid.
Thank you so much for sharing the link. I will surely check it out! I have been looking for wild alternatives to potato for a long time.
Our little Indian shop sells such a variety of potato off the land support locals who grow, have tried quite a few, it definitely is up to individual taste!
That is really awesome though! I would love to try. We don’t have those shops close by, or I am not aware of them.
Amadumbie potato are sold on our street corners most year round.
Sweet potato of all forms shapes. colurs and sizes available, standard white potato most use in their homes. Amudumbie has higher protein to all others found here.
African Wild Potato more a medicinal plant than a food.
Oh I have seen this yes, especially in Indian or Cape Malay spice shops! I have never really thought about it, but now I will buy some and try to make something with them. Thanks again for sharing!
Watercress (an invasive to SA) grows in the wild as does waterblommetjie around the Western Cape.
Have bought fresh waterblommetjie when in the Cape and was delighted with the flavour. This we only get canned which is nothing close to the fresh.
Oh yes! Waterblommetjie bredie is one of my favourites. Thank you so much for making this comment as my girlfriend has never had it before and I am close by a place that sells.
Enjoy it fresh, we only get canned here, not the same at all.
It is the small things in life we need to appreciate! Thank you, I will.
I think the meaning of the bees and butterflies at this time of those beautiful flowers even if some are weeds is the metamorphosis of the stages essential to transfer the pollen from one flower to another.... natural ornaments for the meadow to attract more life and beauty to the gardens...constant changes.
Beautiful images ....thank you, @joanstewart 🌺🍁
Walking around one notices how many tiny butterflies with bees are sharing the weeds, my brother has a saying "if it is green and growing, leave it"! Thanks for comments and visiting.
What a beautiful saying, it expresses the reconciliation of feelings, and emotions in all of us who integrate these ecosystems into this beautiful blue planet. Thank you for those words.
Have a lovely weekend, hope you get to enjoy the fields and flowers.

🐝🦋🍂It is my privilege to enjoy the beautiful and natural.
I have photographed a few Dandelions in the past, it is amazing how a weed could look this beautiful.
Lovely shots as always Joan.
Have a good night.
Nature at it's best dispersing seed using the wind, well when children don't help it along as we did when young.
Have a lovely Saturday.
A lovely Sunday to you as well

Nicely photographed macro flowers, Joan. Ants are a problem here as they try to invade the house but they have their role in nature. 🐜
Have a great day my friend @joanstewart . ☀️
Black ants not too much of a problem here, termites a very different story.... Happy Sunday!
