Balmy Sunday

Sizzling Hot Sunday Durban

Perhaps after cooler weather we really feeling scorching sun beat down, don't fret still find shady places to watch quietly as life carries on.

Balmy is calm language for blistering heat with muggy sweltering weather, no breeze rustling through the leaves, yet beauty still to be found.

Early meander around the garden found the caterpillar that belongs to the Leopard Magpie Moth, Zerenopsis lepida. Their diet mainly cycad but they happy to dive into my rain lily as well, being a natural garden I leave them. Might lose a bit now but gain gorgeous moths fluttering around later!

Eggs produced in great numbers, now well aware of the onslaught to arrive, the do damage, now hold your breath...

IMG_9326.JPG

Captured one on top of the curry leaf tree enjoying some pollen, they do good, why do full out the warfare on insects when you get the whole picture?

IMG_9424.JPG

Is this a female checking out taste on the cycad selected to use later, who knows, poison is the last resort, garden has survived this over many years!

White butterflies are swarming around the Durante tree in great numbers along with a few others coming into land.

With onslaught of hot weather the cold-blooded butterflies and moths are out in large numbers on the ground sourcing essential minerals, others enjoying pollen from flowering plants during the hot season.

Beautiful photos Joan :-)

We're currently in the middle of Winter here in the UK, and seeing these gorgeous butterflies makes me yearn for our summer!

After an enjoyable cold front going through the heat has pumped up and everything on the move once again. Winter months I prefer, being a warm climate we have butterflies, moths and other insects year round.

Thanks for visit!

It's beautiful. It's a pity that few people can stop and watch nature like this, pay attention to it.

Cycles in life much like our own only on steroids which gives us the benefit of seeing all the way through.

You have a nice variety of moths and butterflies to assist with pollinating the plants. ♥
