Hello to all #Hive friends!.... In recent days I made another of my daily excursions into the hills near the village and went a little deeper into the wooded areas through which pass the trails used by people to come and go with their pack animals.

¡Hola a todos amigos de #Hive!... En días pasados realicé otra de mis excursiones cotidianas hacia las colinas cercanas al pueblo y me adentré un poco más en las áreas boscosas a través de las cuales pasan las veredas usadas por las personas para ir y venir con sus animales de carga.

The intention of this walk, carried out after 10 AM and until almost 2 PM, was to take photographs of insects in general. Well, we are in the middle of the rainy season and it is excellent to take advantage of the days when it rains less to go out and do this type of photography.

La intención de esta caminata, realizada pasadas las 10 AM y hasta casi las 2 PM, era la de hacer fotografías de insectos en general. Pues estamos en plena temporada de lluvias y es excelente aprovecharlos días en los que menos llueve para salir a hacer este tipo de fotografía.

As soon as I reached the area where the trees get taller and the forest starts proper, I noticed a wonderful amount of butterflies of different species flying in all directions. Apparently they too were taking advantage of the rain-free day to do what they do best: "be beautiful".

Apenas llegué al área en donde los árboles se hacen más altos y el bosque comienza propiamente, noté una maravillosa cantidad de mariposas de distintas especies volando en todas direcciones. Al parecer ellas también estaban aprovechando el día sin lluvia para hacer lo que mejor saben hacer: "ser hermosas".

Naturally, this abundance brought a big smile to my face and I started to take pictures... I must say that it is not at all easy to photograph butterflies in these conditions, as they are usually very nervous, fast and agile... So a lot of my photos just didn't work. So I tried to take a lot of quick shots of each species that allowed me to do so and then set about selecting the ones that were in focus and in the right light.

Lógicamente, esta abundancia me dibujó una gran sonrisa en mi rostro y entonces comencé a hacer fotos... Debo decir que no es nada fácil fotografiar mariposas en estas condiciones, pues suelen comportarse muy nerviosas, rápidas y ágiles... Así que muchas de mis fotos simplemente no sirvieron. Entonces procuré hacer muchas fotos rápidas de cada especie que me lo permitía y luego disponerme a seleccionar aquellas que estuviesen en foco y con luz adecuada.

Obviously, having in mind to photograph insects, I took with me my old Tokina ATX-PRO 100mm f/2.8 d MACRO lens, which is quite suitable for this kind of photographic adventures, even though it is not stabilized. Because of its high light-absorbing capacity, it allows me to manage within a range of settings with good shutter speeds and get pretty decent pictures.

Obviamente, teniendo en mente fotografiar insectos, llevé conmigo mi viejo lente Tokina ATX-PRO 100mm f/2.8 d MACRO, el cual es bastante adecuado para este tipo de aventuras fotográficas, a pesar de no ser estabilizado. Pues, su alta capacidad para absorber luz, me permite manejarme dentro de un rango de ajustes con velocidades de obturación buenas y obtener fotos bastante decentes.

I also came across other insects that are not butterflies and I took pictures of them too, but given the large number of butterflies I found, I wanted to share only them together in one post and leave the other insects (and even a rare lizard) for a future publication.... So I have more photos coming soon for you! :)

También me encontré con otros insectos que no son mariposas y también hice fotos de ellos, pero dada la gran cantidad de mariposas que hallé, quise compartirlas solo a ellas juntas en un solo post y dejar los demás insectos (e incluso una rara lagartija) para una publicación futura... ¡Así que tengo más fotos próximamente para ustedes! :)

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.

NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografiar capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.
