This week the valley had atypical sunsets, an impetuous and unexpected wind blew from the North cooling the atmosphere of the valley and bringing over it some clouds that ended up attenuating the sunlight, generating interesting colors and contrasts to take pictures of landscapes, especially from somewhere high in the mountains around the town center as these hills which people here call since I can remember the “Maria La O Viewpoint"...

Esta semana el valle tuvo atardeceres atípicos, un viento impetuoso e inesperado sopló desde el Norte enfriando la atmósfera del valle y trayendo sobre este algunas nubes que terminaron atenuando la luz solar, generando colores y contrastes interesantes para hacer fotografías de paisajes, especialmente desde algún lugar alto en las montañas alrededor del casco urbano del pueblo como estas colinas a las cuales las personas aquí llaman desde que tengo uso de razón el mirador de "María La O"...

This is a place that I can reach with relative ease. It is an ascent along a dirt road about 3.5 km long and this allows me to access this place from where I can visually dominate much of the valley of Montalban. These hills are to the west of the village, so during the afternoons the sun is behind me when I decide to take pictures of the valley and it is even usually obscured in earlier hours than the valley, due to the presence of quite high mountain ranges. So it is usual that already at 5:00 PM I can observe the landscape with parts illuminated by the sun and others already obscured by the shadow cast by the mountains. All this makes this place an ideal place to take pictures of atypical landscapes and with a level of complexity that I like very much. Based on this, I chose to spend part of my time on this excursion taking a few photos in vertical format and using in a relevant way the elements of the terrain, placing it in many cases as the main actor of the photo and in the foreground of it. This is from my point of view, an interesting way to visually convey the way I observe and understand these landscapes.

Este es un lugar al cual puedo llegar con relativa facilidad. Se trata de un ascenso a lo largo de un camino de tierra de unos 3.5 KM de longitud y esto me permita acceder a este lugar desde donde se domina visualmente gran parte del valle de Montalbán. Estas colinas están al Oeste del pueblo, por lo tanto durante las tardes el sol está a mis espaldas cuando decido hacer fotografías al valle e incluso suele estar oculto en horas más tempranas que el valle, debido a la presencia de filas montañosas bastante altas. Así que es usual que ya a las 5:00 PM yo pueda observar el paisaje con partes iluminadas por el sol y otras ya obscurecidas por la sombra proyectada por las montañas. Todo esto hace de este lugar un sitio ideal para hacer fotos de paisajes atípicas y con un nivel de complejidad que me gusta mucho. Partiendo de esto, opté por dedicar parte de mi tiempo en esta excursión haciendo unas cuantas fotos en formato vertical y utilizando de manera relevante los elementos del terreno, colocándole en muchos casos como actor principal de la foto y en primer plano de la misma. Esto es desde mi punto de vista, una manera interesante de transmitir visualmente la manera como yo observo y entiendo estos paisajes.

All this, which I have explained in this article, makes me think that this kind of sunsets in our valley, under this kind of weather and in these light conditions, end up being a kind of “sunset without golden hour” deprived of those wonderful lights of the setting sun, but endowed with such a softness of contrast that ends up becoming an ideal opportunity to experiment taking landscape photos like these, full of other things beyond the typical horizon and worked in vertical format.

Todo esto lo cual he explicado en este artículo, me hace pensar que este tipo de atardeceres en nuestro valle, bajo este tipo de clima y en estas condiciones lumínicas, terminen siendo una especie de "atardecer sin hora dorada" privado de esas luces maravillosas del sol poniéndose, pero dotado de una tal suavidad de contraste que termina convirtiéndose en una oportunidad ideal para experimentar haciendo fotos de paisajes como estas, repletas de otras cosas más allá del típico horizonte y trabajadas en formato vertical.

I was quite late at that place, so I took advantage of all the subtle and gradual variations of tones and lights of the last hours of the sunset, I had a lot of fun taking these photos and also processed them later on my PC. It really is a privilege to have places like this just a hike away from my house and it is also a privilege to be able to share this with you on #Hive...

Estuve hasta bastante tarde en ese lugar, así que aproveché todas las sutiles y graduales variaciones de tonos y luces de las ultimas horas del atardecer, me divertí un montón haciendo estas fotos y también procesado estas posteriormente en mi PC. Realmente es un privilegio tener lugares como este a tan solo una caminata de distancia de mi casa y es también un privilegio poder compartir esto con ustedes en #Hive...
