Today I woke up at 5 AM and immediately texted a friend (another weird guy who loves to wake up at 5 AM every day) to invite him to take a walk to the long road that goes into the grasslands areas south of town, to get some exercise while we talked about a couple of business deals we have together... So, these are the pictures of our walk along that lonely road just before sunrise...

Hoy desperté a las 5 AM y de inmediato le escribí a un amigo (otro tipo extraño que ama despertar a las 5 AM todos los días) para invitarlo a hacer una caminata hacia la larga carretera que se adentra en las áreas de pasturas al sur del pueblo y así ejercitarnos un poco mientras conversábamos acerca de un par de negocios que tenemos en conjunto... Entonces, estas son las fotos de nuestro recorrido por esa carretera solitaria justo antes del la salida del sol...

There was a fairly dense fog in the village (a frequent phenomenon here) so I assumed that the countryside would be foggy as well. This encouraged me to take my camera with me and also fit it with a 50mm fixed lens whose main advantage is capture a lot of light, due the fact that the sun would not have risen over the horizon and the persistent fog would maintain a low luminosity even after it had risen.

Había una niebla bastante densa en el pueblo (algo muy frecuente aquí) así que supuse que en las afueras también tendríamos esa niebla. Esto me impulsó a llevar mi cámara conmigo y también en colocar en ella un lente fijo de 50mm cuya principal ventaja es la de captar mucha luz, pues el sol no habría salido en el horizonte y la niebla persistente mantendría una baja luminosidad aún después de su salida.

This is a lonely road and being on a Sunday and at such an early hour, then its loneliness is even more noticeable. However, every few metres there was a lone passer-by heading towards town and even a cyclist riding through the fog.

Esta es una carretera solitaria y siendo un día Domingo y a una hora tan temprana, entonces su soledad es aún más notable. Sin embargo, cada tantos metros encontrábamos algún solitario transeúnte yendo en dirección al pueblo e incluso algún ciclista rodando entre la niebla.

I didn't want to interrupt the pace of our walk too much, after all we also wanted to exercise and talk about a couple of small investments we have together. So I opted to set my camera settings to semi-automatic aperture (P), ISO 1000, f/3.2, full-frame brightness metric and exposure compensation at -0.3EV (so I have more leeway when processing RAWs). I have these settings pretty much memorised and they serve me well in many situations when shooting in fog.

No quise interrumpir demasiado el ritmo de nuestra caminata, después de todo también deseábamos ejercitarnos y conversar sobre un par de pequeñas inversiones las cuales tenemos en conjunto. Así que opté por ajustar los parámetros de mi cámara en modo semi-automático de apertura (P), ISO 1000, f/3.2, métrica de luminosidad de plano completo y compensación de la exposición en -0.3EV (así tengo más margen de maniobra al procesar los RAW). Esta configuración la tengo bastante aprendida de memoria y me sirve para muchas situaciones de hacer fotos en medio de la niebla.

The road is full of grassland, trees and medium height vegetation on both sides. In addition, we have already started to have days without rain and due it the vegetation starts to have yellow tones. This, together with the fog, provides a lovely visual atmosphere for taking pictures. So once my camera was set up, I was able to take pictures while we walked and talked about matters of common interest. My friend (and bussines partner) is not a lover of photography, so he was a bit surprised when we met on the street and I had my camera with me. But finally we completed about 90 minutes of walking without major inconveniences and I got a good amount of pictures with this "Sunday morning mood" so particular.

El camino está repleto de pastizales, árboles y vegetación de media altura a ambos lados. Además, hemos ya comenzado a tener días sin lluvia y debido a eso la vegetación comienza a tener tonalidades amarillas. Esto, sumado a la niebla, brinda una atmósfera visual encantadora para hacer fotos. Así que una vez configurada mi cámara, pude ir disparando fotos mientras caminábamos y hablábamos de asuntos de interés común. Mi amigo (y socio) no es amante de la fotografía, por lo tanto se sorprendió un poco cuando nos conseguimos en la calle y yo llevaba mi cámara conmigo. Pero finalmente completamos unos 90 minutos de caminata sin mayores inconvenientes y yo obtuve una buena cantidad de fotos con este "humor de la mañana del Domingo" tan particular.

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.

NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.
