Mornings here are still often foggy, so going out to take street photos is something I can't avoid under these weather conditions. But this time I wanted to experiment with something quite specific... I wanted to take all the photos keeping in mind a later cropping in square format (1x1).

Las mañanas aquí siguen estando frecuentemente repletas de niebla, así que salir a hacer fotos de calle es algo lo cual no puedo evadir bajo estas condiciones climáticas. Pero esta vez he querido experimentar algo bastante específico... Quise hacer todas las fotos manteniendo en mente un posterior recorte en formato cuadrado (1x1).

For this photographic exercise (or perhaps it would be better to call it a "photographic experiment") I mounted an old 18-200mm zoom lens on my camera. This gives me more leeway when composing the image and framing it for later cropping to a square format.

Para este ejercicio fotográfico (o quizás sea mejor llamarle "experimento fotográfico") Monté un viejo lente zoom 18-200mm en mi cámara. Esto me permite un mayor margen de maniobra al momento de componer la imagen y encuadrar con miras a un posterior recorte en formato cuadrado.

I usually use lighter prime lenses for street photography in these kinds of low light conditions. However, in addition to the versatility of an 18-200mm focal range, I also thought about that lovely perspective effect that framing distant scenes with a lot of zoom provides. This converges many elements on the visual plane, and that's something ideal for later cropping in 1x1 format.

Por lo general acostumbro a usar objetivos más claros y de focal fija para hacer fotos de calle bajo este tipo de condiciones de poca luz natural. Sin embargo, además de la versatilidad de un rango focal 18-200mm, también pensé en ese encantador efecto de perspectiva que provee el encuadrar escenas lejanas haciendo mucho zoom. Esto hace converger muchos elementos en el plano visual, y eso es algo ideal para después recortar en formato 1x1.

For me it was a delightful "photo walk" and that additional element of wanting to take the photos with the specific purpose of creating a series of images in a square format, added an extra charm to all this time spent photographing in my usual streets.

Para mi fue una "caminata fotográfica" deliciosa y ese elemento adicional de querer hacer las fotos con el propósito específico de crear una serie de imágenes en formato cuadrado, añadió un encanto adicional a todo este tiempo invertido fotografiando en mis calles de siempre.

_{ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.}

_{NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.}
