STOLEN STORIES - MONOMAD || ENG-ESP || (8 Pics)
Outside is a universe of things wanting to happen. The space may be small, the time may pass slowly, but the street and his things continue to happen on their own rhythm. Yes, those are the right words: "as wanting to happen"...
"Egidio's old tractor"/ "El viejo tractor de Egidio"
Egidio arrived in the town fleeing from the war in the mid-1940's. He said he was an aviation mechanic and that the Nazis had burned alive one of his colleagues for not agreeing with their ideas. So Egidio was not only running away from the Nazis, but also from the flames... In the mid 60's Egidio was already as much ours as those born here and in the mid 70's I was a child and my father took me to Egidio's farm as the two had become good friends. During those visits I would watch the gleaming Massey Ferguson 65 tractor go back and forth inside the farm.... Now that old tractor, half a century later, roams the streets of the village providing water to the people who don't have it. The old Massey Ferguson 65 still belongs to that farm, but Egidio the aviation mechanic, decades ago he flew to the skies, but his eldest son "Franco" still has the old tractor as company.
"Mists in the mind"/ "Nieblas en la mente"
Miguel is cheerful, kind, friendly and always ready to give a smile... Miguel goes through the streets carrying his small bottle of soda, but he usually fills it with rum, because Miguel loves rum... However, Miguel sometimes gets foggy... People say that he remains pensive for minutes in the streets, not knowing where he is going or where he is coming from. People also say that Miguel greets and smiles as usual, but in those moments he does not remember the names of the people he looks at...
Awww... Tito's house fell down... It was all alone, even the old ring where they used to fight the roosters was buried (which is a pretty good thing, by the way)... However, nobody can explain how the old kitchen chimney and the almost as old TV antenna are still there... The village jokers often say: "The ghost of old Tito loves to cook and watch TV, but he didn't want to see rooster blood anymore"... "Village things", I would say.
"Presage"/ "Presagio"
Houses keep going to the ground. It all starts with a crack. No, I'm wrong, it all starts with "loneliness and emptiness", when the young people leave and the old die alone and dwindling inside. That's when the cracks and the chipping begin, then the houses die too.
"The noise makers"/"Los artífices del ruido"
Willy (the little one) and his newly arrived cousin (whose name nobody knows in the neighborhood) need not be described. Suffice it to say that if my grandmother Olimpia (the old catechist who told stories of the dead and witches to get the children to pray) were alive... Then Willy and his cousin wouldn't be wandering around making noise. No, surely Olimpia had already made them pray...
"Witness, chronicler and pamphlet"/"Testigo, cronista y panfleto"
Hummm... The old phone booth has dozens of stories and time stuck on its sides. Funny, I always pass by here, but until now I hadn't noticed all that she was "whispering"...
Hummm...
Carolina, who grew up with us as my mother's goddaughter, has a yard full of things behind her hair salon. Among all those things there are always cats, at least two, sometimes more... But they are always cats that usually look at those who pass by on the street and peek into the yard...
"Tiger" woke up angry.../ "Tigre" despertó enfadado...
Well, to be honest "Tiger" hasn't woken up angry... It just happens that "Tigre hates photos"... When I walk down the street without my camera I can pet Tigre without any problems... But taking a picture of him is hard work!... See that fereoz face?... Yes, Tigre doesn't want a portrait... ;)
As usual with my black and white street photos, this post and everything written in it, are my entry to today's #Monomad challenge...

lovely photos as usual my friend.
I think Miguel is thinking where to go in the photos you posted here. Seems he has sipped a few times of the rum he has on his hand. : )
!DHEDGE
Ha ha ha... Yes, it could be that Miguel's "mental fogs" have a lot to do with that rum!!!... It seems to me too!... Thank you very much for stopping by and appreciating. Have a happy week! ;)

Congratulations. Today's #monomad second place is yours.
Thank You very much for participating and for being part of the Black And White Community!
Each image tells a tale of its own, offering a glimpse into the lives and history of the subjects involved.
How do you choose which stories to tell through your photographs? @jlinaresp
Friend @rak7 thank you very much for stopping by and appreciating!!!
Oh friend, thank you for asking this question... I tell you: For me it's something relatively easy and natural to do, since I have lived my entire life (52 years) in this town and literally speaking "I am part of these streets"... So when I go out to take photographs in the streets I know everyone and I have memories of all the people and things I find to photograph...
This is a small town. At the beginning of the century we reached 35,000 people in the entire municipality but now we are barely 15,000 (because in our country Venezuela, the economic crisis has forced many to go far away)... This condition makes it even easier keep the town and its events remembered to the present, since recent memories seem to be less... Furthermore, I come from a family where my grandparents, my parents and my uncles told me many stories and anecdotes about the town, just as the people continue to do. elderly people today... so this is almost like a "place for stories" and if you add to that taking photographs almost daily, then you have a good "everyday catharsis"...
I reiterate my gratitude for your appreciation and interest... A hug, many greetings and a happy week for you and everyone around you!
