"Federico & Andrés" / _{"Federico y Andrés"}

When I was more younger, in my 30s, I used to stop from time to time at a bar at the entrance to the village. There I always met Federico (on the left side of the portrait) and we used to have a few beers together. As time went by I became a teetotaler and I never stopped there again... Now, every time Federico sees me in the street, he calls me out on my "crazy decision to stop drinking liquor". .... His son Andrés usually tells him that this is not funny, but I usually explain to him that the friendship between his father and me allows such jocular claims without any problem. 😂

Cuando yo era más joven, estando en mis 30 años, solía detenerme de vez en cuando en un bar a la entrada del pueblo. Allí siempre me encontraba a Federico (del lado izquierdo del retrato) y solíamos tomar algunas cervezas juntos. Con el paso del tiempo yo me hice abstemio y no volví a detenerme allí... Ahora, cada vez que Federico me ve en la calle, me reclama mi "loca decisión de dejar de tomar licor".... Su hijo Andrés suele decirle que eso no es algo gracioso, pero yo suelo explicarle que la amistad entre su padre y yo permite ese tipo de reclamos jocosos sin problema alguno. 😂

"A little watchman" / _{"Un pequeño vigilante"}

A child stands outside, in front of the threshold of his house... The little boy is "taking care" of his father's motorbike while he is looking for some things inside the house to go out again. I love taking these kinds of pictures; the boy seems to be thinking: What the hell is that guy doing with that camera? 😂

Un niño está afuera, en el frente del umbral de su casa... El chiquillo está "cuidando" la motocicleta de su padre mientras busca algunas cosas dentro de la casa para salir nuevamente. Amo hacer este tipo de fotos; el niño parece estar pensando: ¿Que demonios hace ese tipo con esa cámara? 😂

"Miguél" / _"Miguél"

This is a town where most of us try to walk around in the most comfortable clothes possible, because here we don't really wear warm or formal clothes... But look at that shirt Miguél is wearing... It looks like it's just been dry-cleaned!... And the fact is that Miguél has always liked to wear his clothes well ironed and clean... And in a town like this, even those little details are a cause for a joke in the street. 😂

Este es un pueblo en donde casi todos procuramos andar con la ropa más cómoda posible, pues aquí en realidad no hay usar ropa abrigada o formal... Pero ¡Miren esa camisa que lleva Miguél puesta!... ¡Parece acabada de sacar de la tintorería!... Y es que a Miguél siempre le ha gustado usar su ropa muy bien planchada y limpia... Y en un pueblo como este, inclusive esos pequeños detalles son motivo de algún chiste en la calle. 😂

"Gossip aloud" / _{"Un chisme a voz en cuello"}

"I've known her five husbands, five"... That's what that lady said in a very loud voice while talking to her friend at the bus stop! 😂... I almost broke down laughing! 😂... And look at the face of the man on the left, he seems to want to stop her! 😂

"Le he conocido cinco maridos, cinco"... ¡Eso fue lo que esa señora dijo en voz muy alta mientras conversaba con su amiga en la parada del bus! 😂... ¡Casi me desarmo de las risas! 😂... ¡Y miren la cara del señor del izquierda, parece querer detenerla! 😂

"Different from a bike" / _{"Distinto a una bicicleta"}

Sometimes the roads at the edge of the village, where the pavement stops, give me curious images like this one... A boy rides bareback on his father's horse as if he were riding around "on his bike"... I see him not doing anything specific, he just comes and goes along the road... He seems to play, that's all, he plays...

Algunas veces los caminos al margen del pueblo, donde el pavimento cesa, me regalan curiosas imágenes como esta... Un niño va a pelo sobre el caballo de su padre tal como si estuviese dolo deambulando por allí "en su bicicleta"... Le veo no hacer nada específico, solo va y viene por el camino... Parece que juega, eso solamente, juega...

"Hey, take a picture of me Jesus" / _{"Hey, hazme una foto Jesús"}

Sometimes street photography bring us intrinsically human things, like when this man stops in the street and urges me to take a picture of him. I know I know him, I think I have forgotten his name, I know he knows me.... But my memory sometimes fails.

Algunas veces la fotografía callejera nos regala cosas intrínsecamente humanas, como cuando este hombre se detiene en la calle y me conmina a hacerle una foto. Sé que le conozco, creo que he olvidado su nombre, sé que él me conoce... Pero mi memoria a veces falla.

"Mr. Ariel" / _{"El Sr.Ariel"}

Ariel was away from the village for six months, he had gone to the US to be with his daughters who live in Minnesota.... The intention of his daughters is for Ariel to stay there forever with them, as he is diabetic and here in Venezuela the treatment for this disease is difficult to afford and obtain. However, Ariel always returns to Montalbán, as he says he cannot live without the streets of the town and its people. .... And he also says: In Minnesota nobody likes to talk about other people and he doesn't know how they can live in such a boring way! 😂😂

Ariel estuvo lejos del pueblo durante seis meses, se había ido a EEUU a estar allá con sus hijas que viven en Minnesota... La intención de sus hijas es que Ariel se quede allá para siempre con ellas, pues es diabético y aquí en Venezuela el tratamiento para esta enfermedad es difícil de costear y conseguir. Sin embargo, Ariel siempre regresa a Montalbán, pues dice que no puede vivir sin las calles del pueblo y su gente.... Y también dice que: ¡En Minnesota a nadie le gusta hablar chismes de otras personas y no sabe como pueden vivir de esa forma tan aburrida! 😂😂

"Nero" / _"Nerón"

My photo walks "always have a dog somewhere" and today is no exception.... Meet "Nero" the damned french bulldog of a friend.... I called Nero by another name, I call him: "Angrynator" 😂😂😂 because he always seems to be in a bad mood and seems to hate cameras and photographers... However, not even Nero is saved from my lens! 😂 I take advantage of the fact that my friend has him tied up to take a portrait of him in spite of his guttural grunts.

Mis paseos fotográficos "siempre tienen un perro por alguna parte" y hoy no es la excepción... Les presento a "Nerón" el condenado bulldog francés de un amigo... Bauticé a Nerón con otro nombre, yo le digo: "Obstinator" 😂😂😂 pues siempre parece estar de pésimo humor y parece odiar a las camas y a los fotógrafos... Si embargo ¡Ni siquiera Nerón se salva de mi lente! 😂 y aprovecho que mi amigo le lleva amarrado para hacerle un retrato a pesar de sus gruñidos guturales.
