Going for a walk along any of the roads leading away from the town of Montalbán, which cut through rural properties, can be a visual waste if you don't bring a camera or at least a cell phone to take pictures. There's always something new to capture and share along these roads that connect the town with other nearby places or even with larger highways. So it's no surprise that I always take my camera when I go for a walk to try and stay in decent shape. And today's post is something of a visual narrative of one of my walks to the northwest, during which I passed right by a cattle ranch. This would have just been another opportunity to take some of my usual photos of pastures, corrals, and some cows alongside other farm animals. But the sudden appearance of a young bull there added an extra element of fun to this walk. So please continue reading this post and join me as we look at that road and that beautiful bull that's new to those pastures...

Salir a ejercitarse caminando hacia cualquiera de las carreteras que se alejan del casco urbano de Montalbán las cuales atraviesan predios rurales, es algo que puede convertirse en un "desperdicio visual" si no se lleva consigo una cámara o cuando menos un teléfono móvil para hacer fotografías, pues siempre hay algo nuevo para registrar y luego compartir a lo largo de estas vías que comunican el pueblo con otros lugares cercanos o incluso con carreteras más importantes. Así que no es de extrañarse que yo siempre lleve mi cámara cuando voy a caminar para procurar mantenerme más o menos en buena condición física. Y esta publicación de hoy es algo así como una "narrativa visual" de una de mis caminatas hacia el noroeste, en cuyo trayecto pasé justo al lado de una finca ganadera. Y esto hubiera solo sido una nueva oportunidad para hacer algunas de mis acostumbradas fotos de potreros, corrales y algunas vacas junto a otros animales de corral. Pero la aparición repentina de un nuevo y joven toro en ese lugar, le ha dado un punto adicional de diversión a esta caminata. Así que, por favor continúen adelante en esta publicación y acompáñenme a ver ese carretera y es bonito toro que está nuevo en esos potreros...

As usual, that day I was taking photos as I drove along the almost always deserted paved road. But suddenly, while looking at and photographing some cows I had seen before, I noticed a new animal, a magnificent specimen, and, in my opinion, a reddish Brahman, something I rarely see here, since most of the bulls brought by local ranchers are light gray...

Como siempre, ese día me encontraba haciendo fotos a medida que avanzaba a lo largo de la casi siempre solitaria carretera pavimentada. Pero repentinamente, mientras miraba y fotografiaba algunas vacas que ya había visto antes, noté la presencia de ese nuevo animal de excelente porte y al parecer de raza Brahman pero de color rojizo, algo que muy pocas veces veo aquí, pues la mayoría de los sementales que traen los ganaderos locales son de color gris claro...

He's still a young bull, but you can tell from his build that he'll be quite imposing when he's fully grown. He's also a really friendly fellow and seems to enjoy posing for photos 😂, because he even came up to the edge of the fence and greeted me with a couple of thunderous moos. I hope they brought him here to be a stud bull and that he'll be here for a long time, because he's very friendly... Thinking about this, I'm reflecting now and remembering that I stopped eating all kinds of meat shortly after turning 20, and since then I've tended to see animals in a more sensitive way, especially cows, which, as is normal, are raised for human consumption. I don't know, I'm not the type to make a big deal out of this and go around holding up signs; I understand society as it is. But when I look into the eyes of this bull, or any animal, I see a sentient being worthy of being loved...

Es un ejemplar aún juvenil, pero se nota es su estructura corporal que será de tamaño imponente cuando se desarrolle totalmente. Además, es un tío muy simpático y parece que le gusta posar para las fotos 😂, pues incluso se acercó a la orilla de la cerca y me saludó con un par de mugidos estruendosos. Ojalá le hayan traído para servir de semental y esté aquí durante mucho tiempo, pues es muy amigable... Pensando en esto, ahora reflexiono y recuerdo que dejé de comer todo tipo de carnes poco después de cumplir mis 20 años, y desde entonces acostumbro a ver a los animales de una manera más sensible, en especial a las vacas, las cuales como es normal, son criadas para consumo humano. No sé, no soy, del tipo de hacer todo esto un drama y salir a enarbolar carteles, entiendo a la sociedad como está constituida. Pero veo a los ojos a este toro, o a cualquier animal, y veo allí un ser sintiente y digno de ser querido...

After spending a long time there chatting with the young bull and some of the other cows that also approached the fence, I took a handful of additional photos (even a very strange one, of an old stuffed animal hanging on the fence 😂) and began my return to the village quite happy to have exercised, taken photos, and also interacted with those friendly animals, especially the new reddish bull in that pasture...

Después de estar un largo rato allí conversando con el joven toro y con algunas de las otras vacas que también se acercaron a la cerca, hice un puñado de fotos adicionales (incluso una muy extraña, de un peluche viejo colgado en la reja 😂) y emprendí mi regreso al pueblo bastante contento por haberme ejercitado, hecho fotos y además interactuado con esos simpáticos animales, en especial en nuevo toro rojizo de ese potrero...
