We have had a couple of showers and the town's streets, dried out and crushed by several months of embraced sun and heat, seem to change a little with the humidity typical of the hours following these first rains... To is then "a little more black and white" in my opinion and I can walk through the streets with a camera almost imagining that the colours have gone somewhere else...

Hemos tenido un par de aguaceros y las calles del pueblo, resecas y trituradas por varios meses de sol abrazados y calor, parecen cambiar un poco con la humedad típica de las horas siguientes a estas primeras lluvias... To está entonces "un poco más en blanco y negro" según mi juicio y se puede ir por las calles con una cámara casi imaginando que los colores se han marchado a otro lugar...

Mrs Cruz Machado is in her humble home, cared for by her eldest son who has asked me to come inside and take a photo of his mother. She is a silent old woman with the look of a child, her memories fled years ago. Curiously, her mother "Otilia Machado" died just a month ago at the age of 103, so it is quite possible that Mrs. Cruz at 80 has many more to go... This is a town of tiny stories happening in the streets... Bolivíta has not slept after a weekend of partying and intoxication, so he is on a street eating a breakfast of juicy ripe mangoes which he swallows with the help of a very questionable quality liquor, also shouting incoherent ramblings to those passing by... The drains of the empty planters in the main square have been clogged for months, so the stagnant water gives me some unexpected reflections...

La Señora Cruz Machado esta en su humilde casa, le cuida su hijo mayor quien me ha pedido pasar adentro y hacer una foto de su madre. Es una anciana silente y con mirada de niño, sus recuerdos huyeron años atrás. Curiosamente, su madre "Otilia Machado" murió hace apenas un mes con 103 años de edad, así que es muy posible que la Señora Cruz a sus 80 tenga por delante muchos más... Este es un pueblo de historias diminutas ocurriendo en las calles. Bolivíta no ha dormido después de un fin de semana de farra e intoxicación, entonces está en una calle desayunando jugosos mangos maduros los cuales traga con ayuda de un licor de calidad muy cuestionable, también grita incoherencias a aquellos que pasan por ahí... Los drenajes de las jardineras vacías en la plaza mayor están obstruidos desde hace meses, así que el agua estancada me regala algunos reflejos inesperados...

Not everything is drama here, I can also enjoy the happiness of a child running fast in a street and take a picture of him, which is as difficult to take as if it were a bird in flight... A few streets later I meet my friend Manolo riding his bicycle, the years never seem to catch up with him, he is still a strong man of solid convictions...

No todo es drama aquí, también puedo disfrutar la alegría de un niño corriendo velozmente en una calle y hacerle una foto la cual resulta tan difícil de hacer, como si se tratase de fotografiar un ave en vuelo... Pocas calles después encuentro a mi amigo Manolo yendo sobre su bicicleta, los años parecen no alcanzarlo nunca, sigue siendo un hombre fuerte y de convicciones sólidas...

And as always, my streets are not complete without the animals... I was happy to find that robust old hound I haven't seen on the streets for months, he seems to be fine, he's always been a strong muscular dog... And of course!... There is a donkey in the garden of a house!... The owners have even put some grass for him to eat and fresh water to drink... ;)

Y como siempre, mis calles no están completas sin los animales... Me hizo feliz encontrar a ese robusto y viejo sabueso al cual no veía en las calles desde hace meses, parece estar bien, siempre ha sido un perro musculoso y fuerte... ¡Y claro!... ¡Hay un burro en el jardín de una casa!... Incluso los dueños le han puesto algo de pasto para comer y agua fresca para beber... ;)
